Summary:
Tony pulls Peter out of school to join him for a battle because the majority of the Avengers are down.
_____
Peter is zoning out during his Biology class, waiting for it to end. The unit his class is going over is something Bruce taught Peter weeks ago. He rests his cheek on his hand and focuses on the front of the classroom—his teacher, Mrs. Revett, drones on about cells and how they work.
Mrs. Revett knows Peter isn't paying attention, but there isn't anything she can do to punish him because he answers every question she throws at him correctly.
Halfway through the class, a commotion starts in the hallway closest to Peter's classroom. People shout alarmingly and trample each other to get out of the way. A few people slam into the door of Peter's classroom, knocked around by fleeing students.
The chaos knocks Peter out of his reverie. His advanced hearing picks up the familiar sound of Tony's thrusters on his Iron Man suit. He blanches. He can't imagine why Tony would visit his school unless he learned about Flash bullying him.
Peter has done everything he can to keep that particular tidbit of information out of Tony's hands. Tony is overprotective of his protege and would no doubt ruin the rest of Flash's life for his treatment of Peter.
Peter scrambles to slide his materials into his backpack, ready to escape through the window if Flash's name leaves Tony's mouth.
Tony throws the door open and stalks through, clad in his full Iron Man suit. His helmet is off, and his ruffled hair and piercing eyes greet the startled students and teacher.
"Tony," Peter says nervously. "What are you doing at my school?"
"Shut up, Penis," Flash scoffs. "We all know you are lying about knowing Tony Stark. You are embarrassing yourself."
Peter winces. If Tony didn't know about Flash before, he could no longer keep it a secret.
Tony narrows his eyes and points a finger in Flash's direction. "I don't know who you are, but we're going to talk later about how you just spoke to my kid."
Flash gulps and backs away. "Your kid?"
"Are you stupid and rude? Yes, my kid." Tony waves his hand at Peter. "Let's go, Underoos. We've got a situation. I promised you wouldn't be disturbed at school, but Cap and Natasha are down, Clint's arm is broken, but he's still fighting, and Loki is on the brink of unconsciousness. We need help. Suit up."
"Alright." Peter shrugs. This situation isn't ideal, but he has always known he can't keep Spider-man's identity secret forever. He drops his backpack on his desk, unzips a hidden pocket, and reaches for his Spider-Man suit.
"Now, wait just a minute," Mrs. Revett says. "You cannot take a student out of my class. Only a parent or guardian on our list is allowed to do that."
Tony levels a bored stare at her. "I'm Tony Stark. I do what I want."
Mrs. Revett stumbles over her words. "Well, that doesn't matter. You still have to follow school rules!"
"The rules don't apply if it involves New York City's neighborhood Spider-Man. Hurry up, kid."
"Tony, do you have the kid yet?" Tony switches his comm to speaker so Peter can hear Sam. "Clint's down for good. Wanda and Pietro are missing, and Bucky's arm is fritzing out. I'm cornered and about to be overrun. We need you two here."
"We're on our way now. Hang in there." Tony switches his comm back as Peter puts his own in.
Peter yanks his mask out of his backpack, drops his bag to the floor, and races for the door. "Come on, Tony." He slips his mask over his face and attaches his web shooters. He doesn't have time to suit up fully. He'll be okay in just his loose shorts and an oversized T-shirt. Hopefully.
Ned grins at Peter and gives him a double thumbs up. You got this, he mouths.
Beside Ned, Flash scowls murderously. "Penis Parker, this isn't funny. You have gone too far with your stupid internship lie. There is no way you are Spider-Man. What loser did you hire to impersonate Iron Man?"
Peter sighs. He is so over Flash's bullying. He is already outed as Spider-Man, so nothing is holding him back from retaliating against Flash. Peter sprays webbing across Flash's mouth. His new form of webbing is nontoxic. Flash will survive, but he'll be stuck for hours - which is what he deserves.
"That will dissolve in two hours. Until then, everyone has the pleasure of silence and laughing at you."
On Tony's way out the door, he points at Flash again. "Once we win this battle, the Avengers will talk with you about bullying our kid." He then points to Ned. "And you, how dare you not tell me this was happening. Don't even act like you didn't know."
"I'm sorry, sir," Ned blurts.
"You'd better be."
Once outside the school, Peter swings by his classroom, waving at everyone inside.
With Peter's help, Tony saves Sam, and the three take down their bad guy. It doesn't take long, with Peter webbing the villain's henchmen to buildings.
After the battle is over, Vision locates the Maximoff siblings. Peter lifts Wanda into his arms and swings her unconscious body to the Tower. Pietro is awake but unable to run or even walk. Vision scoops him up and flies him to the Tower.
Once everyone is in the Medbay and out of danger, Peter's worries crash over him. He didn't have a choice when he revealed his secret identity. He needed to help his team. He would do it over and over again, but nothing will change the fact that the world will know who Spider-Man is by tomorrow.
His life is never going to be the same.
The beeps of the many machines his teammates - his family - are hooked up to soothe Peter. His family may be injured, but because of him, they are alive. That is all that matters.
Not his secret identity.
