"Daddy?" Morgan enters the kitchen and tugs at Tony's shirt.
"What?"
"Can we play a game?"
Tony settles a soapy dish on the left side of the sink to be rinsed later. "Not right now, Morgan. I'm busy. Maybe later."
Morgan's smile drops. "Oh. Okay."
The disappointment in her voice rattles Tony. Memories of times he should have said "yes" to someone else flood his mind. After Morgan was born, Tony vowed to make sure she lived her life to the fullest. If playing a game while he should finish the dishes will make Morgan happy, Tony will do it.
He rinses the soap bubbles off his hands and turns the sink off. "Actually," he says as he dries his hands on a ratty dishrag. "I can do dishes anytime. Go pick out a game from the hall closet."
"Thanks, Daddy!" Morgan hugs Tony's leg before running from the kitchen.
Tony winces at the loud crash that comes seconds later. He really needs to organize the hall closet better. Something falls every time it's opened. "Whoops!" Morgan shouts.
"It's okay. I'll help you pick it up." A Chutes and Ladders game lies spilled on the carpet as Tony joins Morgan. He scoops the pieces back into the box as she rifles through the closet.
"Daddy?"
"Yes, Morgan?"
"Can we watch this movie?"
"What movie? There shouldn't be any movies in there."
Morgan thrusts a disc into Tony's face. "This one."
Tony's face goes white. "N-not that one. We have plenty of movies you can pick from on TV."
"But, Daddy, I want to watch this one!"
Tony groans. He knew the promise he made about Morgan would come back to bite him in the ass and he still did it. Morgan gives him puppy-dog eyes. "Fine," he agrees. "We can watch it."
It's about time Morgan learned about Peter. Tony has kept tight-lipped every time she's asked about the "boy in the kitchen picture" because it hurts too much to talk about. Maybe watching the memorial video Steve made will be easier than talking.
Morgan tugs on Tony's arm. "Hurry up."
"You go ahead and get the movie started. I'm going to finish cleaning up here."
"Okay!" Morgan runs down the hallway, almost slipping on her socked feet.
Tony takes his time picking up the spilled game. He needs a moment to prepare himself to see Peter alive again. He watched the memorial video once after Steve delivered it and then stuffed it deep into the closet and hasn't thought about it since.
Morgan is bundled in her favorite blanket on the couch, impatiently waiting for Tony. She pats the space next to her. "Hurry."
"I'm hurrying." Tony sits next to Morgan and starts the video.
"What is this movie about?"
"It is a video about someone I used to know."
"Do I know them?"
