"Are you sure you will be fine?" Peter croaked out.
Wanda sighed. "I promise I will be fine. I'm a big girl. I can go to school without you for one day. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?"
Peter calmed down after that. He logically knew that Wanda could care for herself, but he still worried. She was right, though. It was only one day. "Have fun. I love you." Peter burrowed under his blankets again, pulling them up to his nose.
"I love you too. I would kiss you, but I don't want to get sick," Wanda flicked off the light as she left Peter's room.
She stopped by her room to grab her backpack and phone before heading for the elevator on the common floor. Loki, supervising Clint cooking breakfast, furrowed his brows when he saw her alone. "Where are you going?"
"To school," Wanda answered confusedly. "Did you forget it's Monday?"
"Without Peter?" Loki asked in concern.
"He's still sick. I can't afford to miss a day because he can't come with me," Wanda explained.
"You know I don't like you going anywhere without someone with you," Loki folded his arms.
"You know I'm not a kid, and you're not my dad. I'm perfectly capable of going to school alone." Wanda snapped.
Loki put his hand on her shoulder. "I know that. I'm simply worried. Be careful."
Wanda shrugged his hand off. "Stop treating me like I'm breakable! I can take care of myself!"
"Don't talk to me like, young lady," Loki yelled after her as she stormed into the elevator.
Clint laughed. He had given up the pretense of cooking to eavesdrop on Loki's conversation.
"What are you laughing at?"
"It's funny seeing you act like a dad to her," Clint almost spilled his capri sun from laughing too hard.
"What do you mean?" Loki hopped onto the counter beside the stove, even with the archer.
It took a while, but eventually, the two formed a tentative friendship once Loki joined the Avengers. Clint's grudge against Loki for mind-controlling him thawed once Thanos died. Loki finally explained the reasons behind his attack on New York. Witnessing Thor sacrifice his life for his brother was another factor in changing Clint's mind about Loki. Despite Thor's love for his brother, he wouldn't have given his life to save a villain.
Clint stared at the god, baffled. "Are you serious? You act how I do with my kids. You're such a dad."
"How is it funny that I am "such a dad" to Wanda?"
"You don't seem like the dad type," Clint flipped another pancake. He sipped the last of his Capri Sun and tossed it in the trash.
"I have children, Barton," Loki said.
Clint did a spit-take. "You have kids?"
"I have many. All who Odin stole from me," Loki said bitterly.
"That sucks, man."
"It is my life."
Clint looked sadly at his now ruined pancakes, covered in Capri Sun. "Can you use your magic to fix this?"
