Summary:
On a field trip to Avengers Tower, Flash angers the Hulk, causing Peter to choose between calming Hulk down or keeping his secret identity a secret and allowing innocent people to die.
_____
Mr. Harrington taps his marker against the whiteboard until he has his students' attention. "Listen up, class. I have an important announcement." He continues once his class quiets down. "The principal is rewarding our students in our class who scored the highest on last week's test with a field trip."
He has a difficult time calming his students after the declaration.
"Class? Class? Those students are Peter Parker with a score of one hundred percent. Ned Leeds with a score of eighty-five percent. Michelle Jones with a score of seventy-six percent."
Peter tunes out the rest of Mr. Harrington's speech. He knows he's going on the field trip, and that is all he cares about. He tunes back in when the classroom phone rings shrilly. He watches as Mr. Harrington steps into the hall and has a whispered conversation.
Finished with his conversation, Mr. Harrington reenters the classroom. "One of the winners cannot attend the field trip. Flash Thompson will be replacing them."
He points to a student with her raised hand. "Yes, Cindy?"
"What is the field trip?"
"I am so glad you asked. I'm excited to announce that we are going to Avengers' Tower!"
The room goes silent. The only sound anyone hears is Peter's head hitting his desk. "Yay," he miserably mumbles into the surface.
"What's wrong, Penis Parker? Are you afraid your "internship" with Tony Stark will be proven a lie? Are you afraid that no one is going to know who you are?"
"I'm afraid they will."
Peter suffers through the rest of class, with Flash insulting him behind Mr. Harrington's back. When the bell rings for the end of the school day, he snatches a permission slip off Mr. Harrington's desk and shuffles out of the building.
He slides into the backseat of the car as soon as Happy pulls up - except it isn't Happy, it's Clint.
"Clint, not the I'm not happy to see you, but why are you here? Where's Happy?"
"What's with the interrogation? I can't pick my nephew up from school to spend time with him?"
"You can, but I don't think that is the only reason you're here right now."
"You got me. Your dad thinks someone is bullying you, so he sent me here to pick you up. My orders are to create an embarrassing scene in front of the students to show them that you know the Avengers, and they'll know not to mess with you anymore."
Peter is slightly irritated that Tony knows he's being bullied, and instead of talking to him about it, he goes behind his back and involves another person. "Are you not going to?" Peter watches the school fade in the distance as they merge into traffic. "I can't believe you're skipping the chance to embarrass me."
Clint laughs. "I'm not. I'm waiting until the field trip this Friday," a mischievous glint fills his eyes.
Peter slams his head against the headrest of the back seat. He needs to stop doing that before he gives himself a concussion. "You know about the field trip?"
"Of course I do. Who do you think set it up?"
Peter gasps, betrayed. "No, he didn't."
"He did. Did it all behind Pepper's back. He's been talking about ways to embarrass you since last week."
