Conrad POV:
Throughout the car ride home, Olivia has been very silent. Looking out the window with her headphones on and nodding along. I'm not sure what to say if I were to be completely honest. It took all of me to not rage at her mother about how much of a shitty person she is, but at the same time, I know it wasn't my place.
"Shit," I heard Olivia say out of nowhere. I look over to her with a confused look on my face.
"What the-" she says as she scrolls through her phone with a concerned look. I continue to drive as she keeps cursing under her breath.
"What," I say, now wanting to know what the hell she is so fascinated yet concerned about.
"There's a huge storm heading to where we are going,"
I quickly look over to her as I stop the car at the stop light.
"You're joking,"
She places the phone towards my direction and it reads "flood warning, incense winds, and a possibility of a huge storm" in big bold red letters.
"Possibility," I say with air quotes. She rolls her eyes and continues to scroll on her phone.
"Possibility is still dangerous,"
"I don't think it'll be that bad," I say, trying to reassure her. I watch as she starts to scroll on the phone some more, as if she's some type of detective and she is on a mission.
I don't think there is a way to convince her. She has that face that she makes when she is sure of something and she is not going to hold back from it.
"It's okay, I know how to drive in the rain,"
She nods her head and ignores me as she reads the news page under her breath. I sigh as I look out of the window to the sky.
It looks like it's going to rain at best. Can't be that bad.
"There is also a fucking tornado warning, hell no," she says as she so concentratively scrolls through her phone. I laugh as I start to drive again.
"What," she says as she looks over to me.
I give her a grin as I look over to her for a second.
"You're adorable," I say, letting it slip out. Wanting to bang my head against the steering wheel once I realized what I said.
"This is not adorable, we can die and I am not ready to die,"
She shows me the phone again once I stop at the stop sign.
Maybe she isn't being dramatic. It does seem kind of serious.
I turn on the radio to see if there's any news reporting on it, and as soon as I turn it on, all I can hear is about the storm.
"The storm seems to be getting pretty bad as after the rain, there is a possibility of floods around our area. We just got a report that says we could also be in danger of a tornado coming our way. Make sure you stay safe and stay in your homes,"
"Oh hell no,"
Olivia grabs her phone and starts furiously typing.
"What are you doing,"
"Looking for somewhere to stay because there is no way in hell I am dying today,"
"You won't die"
She stops and looks over to me with a pause.
"I have an extreme fear of tornadoes and floods and shit like that, so either way, it would be one hell of a ride. You can go to the house, I'll just take the train back. It won't be difficult for me to get there,"
But she knows there is no way in hell I am letting her off alone. She has got to know that.
I pull over to a motel, since, from the moment I realized she was paranoid about it, I knew there was no way in hell I would be driving back to the house.
She looks up once she realizes I had stopped and looks over at me with a surprised look on her face.
"Woa, how you find one so fast," she says as she unbuckles her seat belt and goes towards the door handle. I stop her and she looks over at me confused.
"It's raining,"
I open my door and run towards her side while taking off my jacket. I watch as her eyes follow me with a confused look on her face.
"Let's go," I say as I open her door and place my jacket over her door. I can feel as the cold rain starts to drench my back. She looks up at me, pauses for a bit, but then gets up with a small smile on her face.
"You're drenched," she says as she closes the door behind her and goes under the jacket.
"No fucking duh Einstein,"
She looks over at me with a stern look on her face. As if she is going to give me one of those slaps she went ahead and gave Tae.
"My bad, my bad" I say quickly as I open the lobby door for her, trying not to grin.
"You guys are right on time," the lady at the front desk says as soon as we get to the desk. I give her a confused look as I grab one of the candies from a bowl, because for some reason, these lobbies either have the worst candy that I despise, peppermint star brites, or the most scrumptious sweet candy that I want to take home with me. I hand Olivia one and she nods her head.
"We can't get that yet," she whispers, and looks over to the lobby lady.
"Why not, we're staying here anyways" I whisper back, not sure why I am mimicking her.
She looks at it for a couple of seconds and then grabs it.
"You're welcome,"
She gives me a smile as she opens the candy up.
"There's one more spot open, and you are the lucky ones to get it," she says as she starts to type really fast. The type of fast you wish you were so you could pass computer class in school.
"One more spot?," I ask confusingly. She starts to nod as she continues to type, as she chews her gum with her mouth open. I don't know whether I would rather be in a room away from the chewing or ban her from chewing gum for the rest of her life.
"One bedroom left," she quickly says and turns the computer to us. I look over at Olivia who is giving me a shocked look on her face. But I am sure I am giving her an even bigger shock look on mine.
One bedroom????
