5 Months Later..
"So, since that day I have been staying at Miss Torelo's house. I slept on the couch. Not the most comfortable place but I made it work. See, Miss Torelo doesn't really have the money for top- notch stuff. Like for example, she doesn't have the most comfortable couch... "And uh.. Also-
"Hollow, stop changing the subject." Said Dr. Minooka.
" Sorry. I just.. Can we finish the story another time?" I asked.
"Of course...Sorry to pressure you. Oh, Hollow I am so sorry."
She came over and gave me a hug.
"If you need any other support-"
"It's fine." Uh. Thanks." Bye! My uh, rides here."
I left her office.
A month after Ma'am died, I started seeing a counselor. At the beginning, I gotta admit. I wasn't the nicest. But Dr. Minooka understood. I started to really open up to her... today. Personally, I didn't really wanna see a consular, but Miss Toledo insisted. She didn't want me to "hurt myself" I guess it helped, for the past five months me and Dr. Minooka would just talk about random things. I wouldn't really talk. She would usually just make conversation and I would just reply back.
I went outside the building first seeing a small beige car. I opened the door.
"Hey." I said,
"Hey Hollow, um just move the clothes. It's laundry day."
I moved the clothes and sat down. It was pretty rainy today. As we drove to the laundromat, which was like 5 blocks away from my counselors office I stared at the foggy window. Seeing which raindrop will make it first to the bottom of the window.
"How was it?" What did she talk about today?"
I faced Miss Toledo and said,
"Well ,good news, she wasn't the one talking!"
"Really? "
"I was the one talking. "
"About what hun"
I gave her an annoyed look.
"Oh! Goodness I am so dense."
"Okay, so-"
"Not gonna explain what I talked about all over again." I interrupted.
Miss Toledo was silent for the rest of the ride.
Later on, we reached the house. I tried to see if Timmy was in his room, but weirdly he was not there though. That's where he spends most of the day. But, I never checked the backyard. So, I opened the back door and there he was, playing with a black cat. Not only do I hate black cats because they carry bad luck, I hate black cats because they are always so mean. This cat that Timmy is playing with is the one I always see for a long time when I look out the window. It always stared at me or hissed because I used to tease it.
"Timmy!" I said angrily.
"Black cats carry bad luck!
Timmy faced me with a dark mark under his eye.
My eyes widened.
I ran towards the cat.
"GET OUT OF HERE!"
But it stayed there. Most cats are very frightened, but not this one.
"Calm down, it wasn't the cat. Also, you really have to learn how to treat animals."
Not only did I hate this particular cat, I was scared of it too. I couldn't even focus on what Timmy was saying, it's like I couldn't stop looking at it. After a while, the cat walked away slowly.
"Are you ok?" I asked. "What happened to your eye?"
"Just know the cat didn't do it. "
"Of course it did! It wasn't there when we left"
Timmy got annoyed. "How can a black cat give people black eyes?"
"I don't know... how can you play with a black cat? I guess we both have some unanswered questions."
"It's none of your business okay? It's not permanent"
" Did you get into a fight?"
Timmy looked at me, "No."
"Then what-"
"why do you care, Hollow? You're supposed to be sad on the couch, remember?!"
"What are you talking about?" I said angrily.
"Ever since your grandma died, it's like you are a whole different person, you're just sad and sleepy and moody and you never even hang out with me anymore. I'm surprised you're not on the couch right now. "
"That's so selfish and rude Timmy! You know she was the only person who ever gave a crap about me! She was the only family I had! You don't know how it is to be alone! At Least you know your dad, my dad never even cared to see my face. Mom? I don't even know her name. The only one who took me in is Ma'am, the only one who made me who I am is Ma'am, the only one who I cared about the most on this earth IS MA'AM!! And you don't even care that the only other woman you know, is dead. "
"That's not-"
I walked up to him. "That's not what Timmy?" It's not fair, it's not true? Well tell me about it.''
I saw tears fall out of his eyes. Before I said anything else, I walked away, but not inside the house. I just walked off.
