"What's wrong?"
"Nothing"
"You hungry?"
"No."
"Thirsty?"
"No."
"Bored?"
"Just leave me alone, please."
For the past three days, I slowly went back into the same routine I went to when Ma'am passed away.
I was depressed, again.
See, when I'm depressed I don't really cry. I just don't do anything. When I'm depressed. I do absolutely nothing.
I just sat on the couch, or I slept. I honestly don't want to be around anyone when I'm upset. I don't want anyone to talk to me, and I don't want anyone to care for me. I just want to be left alone. Also, I can be pretty dramatic...
My head was pounding. But, I didn't want to get up. I knew that I was hungry, but eating just reminded me of McDonalds, and McDonalds reminded me of Lonnie.
My plan was just to starve, I concluded that I would never see him again, and I concluded that I couldn't handle it. I decided to wait until I starved to death.
Miss Toledo didn't let me.
"Here, your favorite." She said handing me some chicken soup.
"I'm not hungry." I said.
"I don't care. Eat up." Miss Toledo seemed angry.
"Why do you seem so mad?" I asked.
"You're acting like you hate us now or something, you just knew him for a day. Are we not enough anymore?"
I shook my head, ignoring her.
"I understand that you miss him and all, but its been three days, he can't drive up to see you everyday. I asked if you wanted to call, and you said no."
"Why didn't he call!?" I said, "I don't want to call him, and chase him."
"Well.. I don't know what to tell you. You're not going to get all upset about it though.
"Why not?" I said, "That's all i'm good for anyway, sitting down and doing nothing.
"You haven't seen Dr. Minooka, in awhile. She's been wondering about you."
"You sure she's not worried about her paycheck?" I slickly asked.
"Actually, no. She wondered if you guys could start talking somewhere else, like the park. She genuinely seems like she cares about you. "
"Oh." I said.
"Yeah, oh." Miss Toledo said walking away.
The phone rang, I instantly ran up to it. I took it off the rack,
"Hello? Hello?!" I asked.
"Hello, is this Mary Toledo."
"No.." I sighed. "Hold on."
"Okay, please hurry, this is pretty important."
"Miss Toledo!" I called. "The phone!"
Miss Toledo came running into the living room and grabbed the phone.
I sat back on the couch, staring at the ceiling and wondering when Lonnie was going to call.
Wasn't he supposed to plan when he was going to see me again? He made himself sound so sure. It's been three days and I have never heard from him. Was he getting me worked up for nothing, did I really mean nothing to him this entire time, maybe he didn't like that I was being mean to him... or-
Miss Toledo slammed the telephone on the rack.
I wanted to ask if she was okay, but she was already upset with me.
I just sat there, and watched her.
She looked back at me and shook her head, she made her way back to the room.
I wondered what had happened. Maybe she was going to get a lower paycheck, or maybe she had to pay Timmy's Tuition fee. Honestly, I didn't care. I was really trying to distract myself. Now, I was invested in what that phone call was about.
The phone rang again, hey.. maybe i can finally know what it was about!
"I'll get it!" I said running to the phone.
"This is Mary Toledo" I said, picking the phone off the rack.
"Oh, hello. Uh, can I speak to Hollow?"
"Who is this?"
"Lonnie."
"Oh! This is she!" I said smiling.
