Grandpa Gohan: "Tell me, what made you choose this decision?"
Kakarot remained silent for a second. Grandpa Gohan understood the confliction within the Saiyan. He sat down on a nearby rock as he tapped the side of it inviting Kakarot to take a seat. The Saiyan obliged sitting next to the old man.
Grandpa Gohan: "You know Kakarot, when I first met you on Mount Paozu there was so much anger"
Grandpa Gohan placed a hand on Kakarot's shoulder as Kakarot listened to his words.
Grandpa: "But since then you've become more....calm"
Kakarot sighed as Grandpa Gohan allowed him the time he needed to collect his thoughts.
Kakarot: "I'm supposed to be a warrior, ruthless and efficient. But. Your kind nature has rubbed off on me"
Kakarot sighed as Grandpa Gohan placed his hand on the Saiyan's shoulder similar to the first time they had met.
Grandpa Gohan: "And who says that a warrior can't be kind"
Kakarot stood for a second thinking. Was Grandpa Gohan right. Was it ok for him to have such compassion. No. He couldn't accept it. He had been raised to think such things as useless. He couldn't change now. He couldn't let them change him.
But they already had.
Kakarot: "You don't understand old man, the things I've done-"
Grandpa Gohan: "Weigh down on your shoulders"
Kakarot was stunned at Grandpa Gohan's response.
Grandpa Gohan: "At first I could sense it, you wore your past crimes as a badge of honor, a sense of pride"
Grandpa Gohan paused for a second.
Grandpa Gohan: "But now you it acts as a anchor on you mind"
Kakarot thought about Grandpa Gohan's words. It was true. What he used to carry as achievements before he now only thought of as horrific transgressions.
Grandpa Gohan: "You shouldn't feel guilty on staying Kakarot, this is your home too"
The words sent a ping through Kakarot's mind. Could he truly call this place home?
Grandpa Gohan: "And I know Chichi would rather you stay"
Kakarot blushed as Grandpa Gohan chuckled. Kakarot truly considered it. He could stay. He wanted to stay. He wanted his friends. But it wasn't fair. He just couldn't.
Kakarot: "I'm sorry old man, but I already made my choice"
Grandpa Gohan nodded respecting his decision.
Grandpa Gohan: "Well then if you are heading off, just pay this old man a visit every now and then"
Kakarot simply nodded.
Kakarot stood up walking towards his pod but stopped for a moment. Grandpa Gohan stood up confused as he would be surprised as in an instant he felt a warm embrace as Kakarot hugged the old man.
Grandpa Gohan smiled returning the gesture.
Grandpa: "Looks like someone has gone soft"
Kakarot: ".......Thank you old man"
Kakarot let go as he hopped inside the pod as the computer turned on asking Kakarot for a destination.
Kakarot: "Set coordinates"
"Planet Vegeta"
