Chapter 9: Saiyan Saga

Raditz: "HAHAHAHAH!!!!!!  THATS IT!!! RUN!!!"

Raditz and Caulifla were decimating the military might of planet Hera. It was an absolute massacre. There were other Frieza platoons present to assist. But they weren't needed.

Nappa alone was murdering hundreds with a simple flick of his fingers as Cabba was expertly dispatching countless numbers of the Heran Military.

However there was one Saiyan who stood aside.

Kakarot had been in his comrades eyes uncharacteristically unenthusiastic. If anything he looked. Scared.

He flew around the city as he took in the destruction around him. Years ago it wouldn't have bothered him. He would have took joy in his new strength and helped his comrades clean up the place.

But now all he felt was. Guilt.

As he landed on the ground. He looked up as Vegeta fired a large ki blast instantly vaporizing a group of Herans who were fleeing the mass destruction. Their lives snuffed out it an instant. But that instant must have felt like forever to them.

Kakarot looked at the carnage.

They didn't deserve this. What right did they have to cause all this.

He then looked down at his own hands. Could he have stopped them? Could have saved these people. Who was he kidding. Vegeta would kill him as soon as he showed a hint of defiance.

And would that make him any better a warrior. Showing mercy.

Vegeta: "Well well Kakarot, I was wondering where you had run off too"

Kakarot turned around noticing Vegeta who was standing behind him. The rest of the Saiyans flew over to join them having had their fun.

Vegeta then threw a Heran to the ground right in front of Kakarot.

The Heran was a little girl.

In all the planets he had helped conquer. He had never paid attention to those who killed. He only saw them as objects towards his goal. But now looking into the girls eyes, he saw the vast chasm of pain behind them. The sheer torment of the sights she had seen.

Vegeta: "Didn't want to have all the fun so I left one for you"

Kakarot's eyes widened. He looked at Vegeta hoping this was some kind of sick joke.

The Prince was serious.

Vegeta: "Come on now, we don't have all day"

Caulifla: "Yeah big bro, get it over with already"

.....

It had been 5 whole minutes. Kakarot had his hand pointed at the girl. A small ki blast. This was nothing. He had killed many before. This girl was no different to anyone else. Just another stepping stone on his path to greatness.

But he couldn't.

She reminded him of that girl. Erasa. Those innocent eyes. But the Heran girl's  eyes were now tainted upon seeing the destruction of her home.

Kakarot lowered his hand as he looked down. The rest of the Saiyans were stunned. Except for Vegeta who expected such "cowardice" from Kakarot.

Vegeta: "Well, well, well, guess I expected as much coming from you"

Kakarot remained silent.

Vegeta: "Well if you won't then I will"

Vegeta fired a ki blast but to his surprise Kakarot blocked it right before it hit the girl. The girl looked up as in front of her stood Kakarot, as he defended her.
