Ever since what happened at Dakota's territory with Benjamin and Rea things have changed around the pack. There's this tense atmosphere hanging around and the people are all avoiding their Alpha and surprisingly start talking to the luna of the pack. The half of the families that live here want to change to a different pack because they don't want to be seen as someone who follows a traitor. This has been weighing a lot on Dakota and of course he's been having quite a few discussions with his father, as if the complaints  of the pack weren't enough yet.

"First you reject your mate and people find out and now you're an accomplice in trying to kill the Upper Alpha", Dakota's father said, with a raised voice. "And it's not an excuse that the other Alpha's wouldn't mind that she's dead, it's about the people. They've taken a liking to Rea and your little murder attempt is not putting you in a good light, neither is our family name! There are rumors going around everywhere about what has happened here, some Alpha's refuse to work with me because of your mistakes!" This must be the tenth time that Dakota has heard those words come out of his father's mouth and probably will hear it ten times more. He's been coming around  a few times these weeks just to make sure that nothing else has happened that might ruin their name even more. "While you're under supervision from her make sure that you don't do anything wrong, support her as much as you can even if you don't want to! We need to make sure that people forget this as soon as possible. We were once the greatest of the packs and look at us now!"

"I am aware of the problems in my pack", Dakota said, with a forced smile on his face. "But I assure you father that soon these problems will fade, I promise you." His father scoffed and looked at Amelia for a second and then back at his son. "Like you promised me an heir", he asked. Dakota looked at Amelia who mindlinked that it was not the time yet to tell him about the fertility issues. "Speaking of", Dakota said, standing up. "Amelia and I should get back to it, the sooner the heir is here, the better!"

....

Dakota sighed relieved when his father finally left and poured a glass of whisky for himself. "How are you going to bring back the pride to the pack", Amelia asked then, sitting down in front of him. She's been very helpful in these times but just like his father she was always down to business. "I honestly don't know. Benjamin had his claws in me so deep that I didn't realize his actual plan", he sighs, a bit embarrassed with himself. "Yeah, he had his claws deep in you and do you remember who constantly warned you about him", she asked, a bit angry with him. "I know I should've listened to Rea! Mistakes were made ,Amelia,  and I can't take them back", he said , frustrated. "Look I'm sorry for everything that I've put you through, I wish I wasn't that stupid to reject her which led to you not having your soulmate in life, and not being able to get you pregnant and sorry for screwing things up as an Alpha", he yelled now. "But I am still a human being."  She stood up and took away his glass of whisky. "And so are women, but no one seems to realize that", she says before leaving.

The truth was that Amelia actually didn't want any children at all, everything would be about the child and she wouldn't be able to focus on herself and her goals in life. She may be a soulmate to a werewolf, she doesn't have to live the life of one. But what choice did she have?

....

Amelia was a bit stressed when she was in the office of Rea. They didn't exactly start off on the right foot. "So, what brings you here", Rea asked. "I just wanted to have a talk about the possibilities in my life at the moment", she informed her. "We both know how Dakota feels about me and he'll always feel that way, I just wondered if there might be a chance to break the bond somehow?"  Rea sighed, she felt sorry for what she has to live with for the rest of her life now all because Dakota wanted to play games. "Once the marking ceremony has been done there is no way back. Now I know your fears in your relationship and honestly you don't have to worry about the children part, werewolves can't heal from fertility problems. But having a human life is over, you're the luna of his pack now. Attending the needs of the pack and socializing with the other human mates will help you learn how to live with it, but otherwise there's nothing anyone can do to help", Rea told her. "It's better to just make your own happiness instead of waiting for it with Dakota."
