Ever since Dakota's brother has challenged the Upper Alpha and paid with his death for it there has been a strange atmosphere in a few packs. Ryder, the father of Dakota has been around the pack ever since reassuring that his other son isn't doing anything stupid.

"Is there a baby yet", his father asked, as they were having dinner. Amelia ignored the question and just kept eating, after all Dakota is the one with fertility issues. "We haven't really had time to work on that", Dakota made up an excuse. His father scoffed, talking about how he should make time for it since it's more important than anything. "Without an heir this pack will cast you aside like a used tissue. Is that what you want?! If this pack doesn't remain in the leadership of our blood I'd be a scandal in the history books, we were once the most powerful family in Varcolac but then that Deadwolf showed up", his father rambled on. "People will already question our family because of what your brother did, I can't have another failure of a son!"

Amelia looked at Dakota briefly, checking how he is doing. She wondered if all fathers were like this in the werewolf world, because it seems like that. "I will personally attend to the matter if you won't", his father said then and Amelia almost choked on her food. "There isn't any need for that, father", Dakota said before Amelia could say anything. "I think there is, it's been weeks and still no sign of pregnancy! As long as the baby is of our blood everything will be fine", Ryder said and looked at Amelia with a devious grin. "There is no way in Hell that you're going to touch my body", she said then and Ryder was surprised that the quiet woman dared to speak up for herself. "We shall see about that darling", he said and she looked furious at him. She didn't care if she had to sprinkle monkshood or Wolfsbane on her there is no way that he'll touch her. "Your son brought me into this mess if you don't recall anymore. He is the one who fails to get me pregnant and I won't let any of you ruin my life any further", she said before walking away.

"What did she mean with it's your fault she can't get pregnant", Ryder asked his son, who was beginning to feel fear. When he didn't answer Ryder sighed frustrated. "I can't believe I have another failure of  a son", he said then, understanding what she meant. "I'll fix the problem myself, and don't you dare come between my plans."

...

Amelia had left Dakota's territory and went to the Wolves territory. There was no way she would stay there another minute. She would never have the life she wanted, everything got taken away from her because of one person. Only Rea could help her with what she's planning next because she couldn't do it.

"If you're here on behalf of Dakota then please go away", Rea said when she saw Amelia awaiting her in the office. "His father wants to personally make sure I get pregnant", Amelia said, tears burning behind her eyes. Rea looked a bit in shock when she said that and didn't say anything for a few seconds. "I can't live like this anymore Rea, I can't break the bond so I can't run away and I'd rather die than be there any longer", Amelia said, wiping away a few tears from her eyes. Rea took a deep breath in and out when she realized why she came to her. "I understand better than anyone what it is to live a life you don't want and can't escape from. So I'll help you but I can't promise you that it won't be painful, Deadwolves aren't exactly known to give painless deaths", she informed Amelia. After this would be done she'd have a conversation with Ryder, things like that have been taken out of the law for millennia. "I still have to ask Amelia. Are you really sure that this is the way you want to go? Are you sure that I can't just kill Ryder for you?" Amelia shook her head even though it sounded like a good offer. "I'll never be happy in this life", she said, sure of her cause. "I guess it's not like the romance novels everyone writes these days.."

....

Rea made sure that Amelia would be comfortable while she did her thing. "Have you had any thought of where you wanted to be buried", Rea asked as Amelia laid down on the bed. "You could make it look like an animal attack, drop me off somewhere near the city make sure someone finds me", she said and Rea nodded. "I should've stopped the ceremony", Rea said then, feeling guilty. "Dakota should have never played with us like that. Even if you did end the ceremony, I'm sure that you would have to kill me because I would just be a human who knows about the Supernatural world and I don't think you'd be that happy being soulmates with him", Amelia reassured her. "I've decided, Rea. I'm sure I want to do this and I appreciate that you want to help me because I couldn't bring myself to do it."

Rea put her hands on Amelia's chest and concentrated on her heartbeat, slowly bringing it down trying her best not to mess with her veins in the process, otherwise it'd be a painful death for her. "Goodbye Rea", Amelia said before drifting away in a forever sleep.

After Amelia her heart stopped beating Rea's body was in confusion. Her wolf side enjoyed the kill and longed for more kills but her human side was sad for the life that just was lost. They may have not met on good terms but Rea knew that she regretted being alongside Dakota that day and felt sorry for her every day, feeling her pain.

Now would come the part she disliked, making it look like an animal attack. Which meant Rea had to make deep claw marks and make it look like an actual wolf did it. "May your soul rest in peace", Rea said before making the claw marks. Yet another woman's life was lost because of the men in this world. "Maybe we'll meet in another life."

.....

She had carried Amelia's body to the nearest park where she would be sure someone would find her. It had been ages since Rea had been in the city and it brought back memories when Shaddix was still alive. He tried to teach her that humans weren't as bad as they made out, but Shaddix couldn't read minds, feel emotions nor see memories. He'd be surprised at what some humans are thinking or capable of doing. She did have to admit that not all humans are bad, Amelia for instance  but the majority is.

Almost a week later

Dakota and his father have been searching for five days straight thinking that Amelia had just gone back to the human world but soon they figured out that she had taken an easy way out. Rea always wondered why they called it an 'easy way' what was easy about killing yourself? Dakota had felt the mark disappear and the slight bond they had also vanished. Everyone wondered where her body was then and of course Ryder suspected the only female werewolf on this planet.

"Did Amelia come to you, after our little discussion we had", Ryder asked, already waiting in her office.Rea just came in after she checked up on Dakota's pack. "It's already bad enough that I had to supervise your son, did I really have to see your face here as well", she sighed annoyed, going to sit down in her chair. "She did, didn't she? I wouldn't know anyone else who would be able to give a fast death", he kept talking. "Big talk but no nerve." Rea grew a bit angry about how he was talking about her and tried her best to stay in control. If he would see the anger, he'd know. The last thing she needs is to be blamed for killing someone's 'soulmate'.   "She did indeed come to talk to me about your discussion that day, but after she decided it was best to discuss it with Dakota. I don't know where she went after she left my territory", Rea lied and toyed a little with his emotions. "I know you helped her Rea. There's no denying it. Your eyes turn darker every time you have killed someone, I noticed that after you killed my son", Ryder said, balling his fist. She leaned back in the chair, just looking at him. "Are you happy now? Every woman that comes into your family either runs away or ends up dead", she said then. "What will the people think about you killing that poor helpless woman", Ryder said, clearly planning something. "You have no power to make any threats to me, Ryder. Your first born son challenged me in front of everyone and died trying to defeat me. Your second son  rejected me and married a human and he helped Benjamin trying to kill me. Even if you managed to spread that rumor,  I have abilities you can only dream of", she said, making her eyes glow as a warning. "Maybe I should talk about your actual soulmate? Whom you killed in cold blood because she had a miscarriage. I helped you cover that one up but I could share my memories with the rest of the people here."   Ryder bit the inside of his cheek knowing she had the upper hand here, he had hoped she had fallen for it just like Shaddix always gave in to him.

"Threaten me one more time Ryder and I'll boil your blood 'till you explode into warm pieces of meat."
