Chapter 13

Rhydian says, "I will be ok, I just need to rest." As he gets up, he winces in agony saying, "damn it!" Maddie looks at him sadly wondering, 'he could have broken something.' Maddie says, "ok, take your shirt off." Rhydian looks at her saying, "sorry sweetheart, I don't think I am up for any playtime right now." Maddie rolls her eyes saying, "I didn't mean it like that!" Rhydian says, "no? you've got me alone in this little cave, now you are trying to undress me...." Maddie says, "I just want to see if you are badly hurt." Rhydian rolls his eyes saying, "sure, that is what they all say." Rhydian grumbles however pulls his shirt and over his head. He says, "there? You happy?" Maddie sees his lean body riddled with fresh swollen bruises; Rhydian looks over at his reflection before saying, "not sure if these are from Zion or the rocks." Maddie says, "Rhydian...." She comes closer placing her hand gently however he flinches looking away. Maddie thinks, 'this must hurt him more than he's admitting.' She takes a deep breath before saying, "lie back, I will bring something that can help." Rhydian says, "but we've lost all our supplies in the fall, we don't have anything." Maddie goes to a corner saying, "there should be some here... yes!" As her eyes lands on a small patch of golden yellow flowers, Rhydian says, "this is not exactly a great time to start gardening." Maddie says, "this is pot marigold, otherwise known as calendula, it has healing properties." Rhydian says, "oh...I had no idea." Maddie comes back to Rhydian's side asking, "are you impressed, Alpha?" Rhydian answers, "I guess you could say that I didn't know you had knowledge of medicinal plants." Maddie says, "yeah, I hike a lot and you pick up things here and there." She slowly grinds the petal into a paste mixing them in the fresh spring water before coming over to Rhydian saying, "this relieve will speed up the healing process, and take away any chance of infection." 

Rhydian has a smile saying, "if you're insisting to play doctor, you should do it properly." Rhydian slowly stretches out his body saying, "put it on me!" Maddie was stunned and shocked saying, "w-what? Why?" Rhydian replies, "if I am being honest.... It is hard for me to move much at all right now, I will not bite I promise." Maddie nods saying, "ok, but you have to hold really still." Rhydian says, "Alpha's promise." Maddie bends down taking the golden yellow ointment between her palms and rubs it until it is nice and warm before smoothing it on Rhydian's wounds as he holds back a sharp pang before soon relaxing under the effect of the medicine. Rhydian says, "woah." He closes his eyes and leans back as Maddie carefully rubs gently down his injured ribs as he soon groans. Maddie says, "am I... hurting you?" Rhydian replies, "hurting me? No, on the contrary this feels...." Before he can answer Maddie rubs a small dose of the marigold ointment in a particularly dark bruise easing his pain instantly. Rhydian says, "this feels really good." As Maddie finishes applying the medicine to his chest, she notices something asking, "can you sit up? I want to check that out." Rhydian slowly gets up and turns as Maddie sees a fresh wound on his back and applies the ointment as Rhydian groans again before saying, "you really do have a magic touch, Maddie." Maddie smiles saying, "thanks Rhydian." She soon finishes as Rhydian teases her saying, "damn, I could have done that all night." Maddie giggles before thinking, 'he landed on his back to save me from that fall, to save my life.' 

Maddie says, "stay still." Rhydian glances at her as she places her hand on his shoulder saying, "you must be sore here." She slowly massages every part as Rhydian soon groans in pleasure. Maddie says, "thank you... for catching me." She slips her fingers over his hot flesh, feeling the true mate bond spark as Rhydian feels it too saying, "I would never let you fall, Maddie." Maddie soon finishes as she smiles while Rhydian says, "that was.... That was amazing, thanks Maddie." Maddie shyly saying, "y-yeah, it was the least I could do." Her eyes soon travel down to Rhydian's chest looking at the claw-scar marks; Maddie says, "Rhydian, did a wolf do that to you?" Rhydian face bows down sadly replying, "yes Maddie, a long time ago." Rhydian gets up slowly and looks at his reflection in the pool of moonlit water, his eyes looking distant. Rhydian says, "you may not know this but... a lot of us were born to Daniel's pack, we lost a lot back then." Maddie was stunned to hear this as she looked sadly at Rhydian.
