Chapter 30

Maddie says, "I like to keep things interesting." Rhydian says, "well, let's get our fill of liquor instead, then." Maddie drinks the first drop as Rhydian asks, "well? How is it?" Maddie replies, "it's pretty good, try it for yourself." She hands him the bottle as he drinks it saying, "yep pretty good is right." Rhydian says, "this storm reminds me of the night we met." Maddie says, "oh yeah? The night you barged in here and tried to 'claim me'?" Rhydian says, "hey, I did claim you." Maddie says, "dragging me off into the night is not the same as claiming me." She come closer to Rhydian placing her hand on his chest saying, "and if you had not brought backup that night, I would have kicked your ass easily!" Rhydian says, "oh yeah?" Maddie nods as the storm booms above them as Rhydian sends her flying on her back; Maddie gasps bracing herself to slam against the mat instead Rhydian hovers over her, holding her an inch of the ground with impossible strength. Rhydian says, "surrender, Maddie." Maddie says, "surrender? You wish." Maddie uses her strength to flip Rhydian saying, "surrender, Rhydian." Rhydian looks at Maddie asking, "what's in it for me if I do?" Maddie replies, "you'll escape with your life." Rhydian says, "how generous of you." He laughs as Maddie says, "I am very giving." Rhydian says, "I surrender, this time." Maddie leans in as her eyes dropped to Rhydian's lips just for a moment to inhale his scent. Rhydian says, "uh, we should probably go to bed." Maddie slowly nods saying, "I-it's probably for the best." They both look into each other's eyes as he says, "wait, the whiskey... it's spilled." Maddie looks at the liquor over the floor and feels golden droplets sticking on her neck. Rhydian says, "hold still, I will get it for you." 

Rhydian pulls her down to him as his mouth is hot and hungry. Maddie doesn't move as he slowly licks her collarbone saying, "mmm." Maddie thinks, 'my god, he feels amazing.' He continues to lick her neck as Maddie feels pleasure while he says, "so good." Maddie looks at Rhydian who soon stops saying, "Rhydian that was.... um, thank you." Rhydian replies, "yeah... you're welcome." They soon get up as Maddie grabs a mat and they soon lay on it; Rhydian closes his eyes as Maddie comes closer and slowly feels her eyes getting heavy however as soon as she closes her eyes, she remembers the smell of smoke and blood, the crackle of flames and someone screaming her name; she sees the flames at her father's encampment as she runs with Daniel calling out, "MADDIE!". Maddie feels someone pulling her as she turns back to see Daniel chasing after her as she hears herself scream, "LET ME GO!", Maddie tugs at the hand trying to break free from the person pulling her, Daniel reached for her as she tries to free herself however this time, she hears herself screaming something else, "Let me go, Rhydian!" Maddie in her mind wonders, 'Rhydian?' Maddie sees the figure come towards her as if it is a younger boy with black hair, brown eyes as Maddie thinks, 'it's him!' Back in reality Maddie opens her eyes with sweat and tears on her face as Rhydian immediately rushes to her side. He holds her saying, "Maddie, what's up? Are you ok? Was it the same nightmare?' Maddie tries to move away saying, "Rhydian, you're a liar! Don't touch me!" Rhydian looked at Maddie who angrily said, "I don't want you anywhere near me!" Rhydian replies stunned, "why? What are you talking about?" Maddie says, "you knew me when we were kids, you stole me away." Rhydian says, "Maddie, please-." Maddie doesn't let him finish saying, "No! Why would you keep this from me? What more aren't you telling me?" 

Maddie pushes him off, gets up and runs into the rain as Rhydian comes after her saying, "Maddie, wait I did know you when we were children, is that what you want to hear?" He comes closer and holds her as she angrily says, "let me go!" Rhydian says, "I did know you when we were kids, Mads, I took you away from that place, I saved your life and I would do it again, damn the consequences." Maddie asks, "but why?" Instead of answering, Rhydian takes her face in his hands and slams his lips against Maddie in a searing kiss. As the rain beats down heavy Maddie feels the pain and confusion all disappear beneath Rhydian's kiss as he holds her fast, his kiss becomes passionate and deeper. Maddie's finger traces down Rhydian's jaw as she presses her lips hard against his. Rhydian catches his breath feeling her scent saying, "Maddie...." Maddie lets go of Rhydian looking at him saying, "Rhydian... all this time?" Rhydian holds her answering, "yes, my whole life, everything I have ever done has been for you, everything Mads." Rhydian kisses her again as Maddie thinks, 'Rhydian, my true mate.' Rhydian asks, "God, what are you doing to me? Fuck, I can't stop, I don't want to Mads." Maddie says, "don't stop Rhydian...." His hand moves under her shirt inch by inch, Rhydian kisses her harder as Maddie takes in his smoky scent. Rhydian says, "Maddie... god you feel so good... so good." They are both lost in the kiss when suddenly the thunder booms above them fiercely causing them to stop and stare at each other.
