Chapter 44

Maddie looks around as Rhydian asks. "what's next, Maddie?." Maddie replies, "there's a way we can win this, a way we can put a stop to all of this bloodshed without losing anymore of our own, we will never win in a straight war, you all know that but that doesn't mean we can't beat them, Daniel rules through fear, not cooperation, his pack is with him because they are afraid if we take out Daniel we don't need to worry about the rest of his pack, Rhydian can step in and take over". Ryan asks, "but... but how can we beat Daniel?." Maddie replies, "Rhydian and I are going to sneak in and take him out, together... a full force they'd see coming a mile away, but just the two of us should be able to creep past their guards, we will take him down, take over and you will all be safe from here on out!." Rhydian turns to the pack members saying, "it's a risky plan, but if we can take out Daniel... these years of fighting, all the deaths.. it could all end." The pack members agree as Rhydian takes Maddie's hand briskly taking her away into a small side room. Maddie says, "listen Rhydian before you try to talk me out of this or say you should go by yourself instead." Rhydian says, "I am not going to do that." Maddie says, "y-you're not?." Rhydian shakes his head saying, "no we are going to do this together and in order to do it, we need to be in disguised." Maddie asks, "what are we disguising ourselves as?." Rhydian replies, "servants, the lowest class of Wolfblood in Daniel's pack." Rhydian goes over to the wardrobe picking a few outfits dusting off dust and cobwebs saying, "Maddie in these outfits, he won't give us a second look, Wolfblood this low are invisible to someone like him." Maddie chooses the ripped trousers and blouse whilst Rhydian changes into a shirt and trouser. Maddie soon comes back in the clothes as he says, "almost perfect." Maddie says, "almost perfect?." Rhydian says, "you are Daniel's daughter, after all, we can't risk him recognizing you, we should change your hair, Mads." Maddie looks in the mirror saying confused, "my hair?." Maddie worries for a moment as Rhydian says, "it won't be permanent, just a disguise to help mask you from your father." Maddie nods as she changes her hairstyle to blue and braids it; Rhydian says, "wow, I barely recognized you." Maddie says, "that's the idea." 

Rhydian says, "you did great, just one final touch." Rhydian fishes a small bottle from a pack of supplies as it looks like a perfume bottle. He says, "pheromone perfume, to mask your scent." Maddie says, "smart." He sprays it on her as she feels her scent hidden and changes to a sickly-sweet odor. Maddie cough says, "ew yuck!." Rhydian uses it on himself saying, "sorry we both have to smell like hardworking unwashed wolfbloods." They soon leave and head out as the sun rises; Rhydian and Maddie go on the long trek up the mountains as by next morning they arrived at Daniel's camp. Rhydian and Maddie watch from a corner at their property as Rhydian says, "looks like they have got a guard positioned out front." Maddie says, "if we get past him, we should be able to blend in with the other servants and find Daniel." Rhydian says, "great idea, Mads that may be our best bet." Maddie creates a distraction as the guard comes over and Rhydian knocks him out. They soon make their way through Daniel's encampment as Maddie smiles at Rhydian in the servant quarters. They soon make their way to the living room grand as Maddie looks around angrily thinking, 'he's got all of this, and he doesn't share any of it with his packs....' Rhydian says, "Daniel should be just through-." A familiar voice interrupts them asking, "what are you two doing here?." Rhydian and Maddie don't reply as Ash says, "I will ask again, what are you doing in here? Surely Daniel has something for his servants to do." Maddie and Rhydian turn as Maddie thinks, 'seems like our disguises are working.' Maddie says, "you see, sir... we are polishing the floor." Ash says, "really? Looks to me like you are just standing on it." Maddie says, "we'll get it done the way it needs to get done." Ash says, "quite the mouth on you, sweetheart?." He comes closer and places his finger on her chin tilting her face to look at him. Rhydian comes in front of Maddie angrily with golden eyes saying, "Don't touch her!." Ash is shocked saying, "that grip... those eyes... you're....." 

Rhydian shoves him into the dining room as Ash says., "so, you two have snuck past Daniel's guard and disguised your scent, clever of course it won't save you when I turn you in." Rhydian says, "I will break your neck if you try." Ash asks, "after everything we have been through you'd kill me? I saved your life, Maddie don't you remember?." Maddie angrily says, "you wiped my memories, why the hell did you do that, Ash?." Rhydian shoves him to the ground saying, "talk! No more lies!." Ash replies, "I...I...." Before they can get any answer Ash kicks Rhydian off and takes out a knife from his back packet pressing into Rhydian's neck. Maddie says, "Rhydian!." Ash smirks saying, "you see, everyone knew that whoever mated the Alpha's daughter would gain considerable power, if I separated her from the pack, removed her memories eventually I could take her for myself." Rhydian angrily says, "you sick fuck!." He forgets about the knife and lunges Ash to the ground; Maddie says, "No!." Rhydian comes out on top however Ash's knife is pointed at Rhydian's chest. Maddie angrily thinks, 'this man stole so much from me, wanted to mate me himself, and now he's trying to take Rhydian away, too? No, I won't allow it!.' With a flash of her Wolfblood eyes, she gains vengeful strength and shoves Ash off Rhydian as he knocks his knife and Maddie presses on his chest with her heel. Ash pleads, "please.... spare me...." Maddie says, "spare you? You took away everything I had, wiped all my memories, and for what? So, you could treat me like your little puppet? But that wasn't enough, was it? You had to sell us all out to Daniel, too, my good friend just died because of you." Ash begs for his life as Maddie says, "this is for Ellie."
