Chapter 16

Maddie says, "it's ok, Rhydian." She looks at Zion saying angrily, "I am fine to walk on my own, thank you!" Daniel says, "already the princess she knows herself to be, I like it." Maddie looks at Rhydian sadly saying, "I will be fine." Rhydian grits his teeth and nods reassured by her courage. Zion grabs Maddie's arm and pushes her into a room saying, "stay here and don't try anything!" Zion leaves slamming and locking the door as Maddie grits her teeth thinking, 'DAMN IT!' She turns to the dark room wondering, 'how do we get out of this? I cannot even find Akira, and Rhydian is-!' In anger she punches a nearby vase which smashes to the ground; a small splash of water lands on her as her eyes turn bright blue; she feels a surge of energy travel up her arms. Maddie soon gasped in surprise saying, "the-the water? I should...." Maddie comes closer to the table and slowly presses her hand into the puddle, she lets the water soaks in her skin feeling power surge through her body; she steps back wondering, 'does water... make me stronger?' Maddie decides to try again however a noise stops her; she looks around the wall for a light switch thinking, 'there's someone in the room with me.' Maddie picks up a broken piece of the vase and switches on the light saying, "make my day and fight me, whoever you are... you'll be worse than sorry!" Akira comes out of the shadows saying, "M-Maddie?" Maddie says, "Akira, oh my god!" Akira runs to her and hugs her saying, "Maddie! I-I want to go home so bad! I miss mommy and daddy! I want them back." Maddie bends down wiping the tears from her face saying, "your parents miss you, too... we are going to get you home." Akira, still crying asks, "where are they? Are they ok?" Maddie replies, "yes, they are trying to reach you, sweetie and we are going to get back to them." Just then the door barges open as Daniel enters screaming, "HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET ANYTHING DONE WITH ALL THIS NONSENSE WHINING?" Akira cries saying, "no, no, no!" 

Daniel threatens Maddie to keep Akira quiet while Maddie sees the anger in his eyes before pulling Akira into a hug saying, "it's ok Akira, it's all going to be ok, you are going to see your parents very soon." Akira asks, "y-you promise?" Maddie answers, "yes, and do you know what? Their love can protect you even from far away." Maddie gently rubs Akira's back and strokes her hair lovingly. Slowly Akira calms down as Daniel watches how Akira is calm saying, "nice work, Maddie you have a way with children it seems, this will help you when you have Zion's heirs and further my line." Maddie gets up saying, "you will never have anything to do with my children!" Daniel says, "that's not something you will have control over." Maddie angrily clenches her fist saying, "try me." Daniel sighs saying, "you really were raised with no manners, but that's alright by the time we are done here, you and that 'true mate' of yours will be much better behaved." The door opens again as Zion drags Rhydian into the room; Rhydian yells, "GET THE HELL OFF ME!" Zion pushes Rhydian to the floor as his knees hit the ground. Maddie says, "enough! Stop this!" Daniel says, "oh, it will all be over soon, my dear." 

Within a flash, Zion snatches Akira from behind Maddie's who tries to grab her however a glint of sharp metal stops her as Daniel points a deadly blade at her leaving her frozen. Rhydian says, "Don't you dare-!" Daniel looks at Rhydian angrily saying, "NO. Enough games!" Maddie doesn't dare take a step as the blade is within inches of her eyes. Maddie says, "I'm sorry, ok? Please don't do this!" Daniel replies, "I won't be doing anything, but you will soon, my daughter... we will make this little 'soul bond' problem go away... when you kill this mutt yourself." Maddie was shocked asking angrily, "WHAT?! I would rather kill you than ever hurt Rhydian!" Daniel says, "I am sure you would my dear, but that option is unavailable, I'm afraid." Maddie clenches her fists angrily saying, "I will never do what you say, you sick disgusting piece of shit!" Daniel folds his arms before his eyes turn a menacing blood red as Maddie stops breathing. Maddie struggles saying, "w-what?" Daniel smirks telling her, "You are my blood, Maddie. I can control you; I can control even the blood in your body." He takes the dagger saying, "take this, Maddie." Maddie feels her will is against her and does exactly as he says.
