Chapter 32

Rhydian opens the fridge to see eggs and grabs some vegetable asking, "Maddie, how would you like your omelette?." Maddie comes over saying, "Rhydian..." Rhydian whips the eggs in a bowl however looks at Maddie who has questions in her eyes. She says, "Rhydian... about my dream... about what you said before... you told me you knew me back when we were young that you have always known me." Rhydian puts the bowl down saying, "I did, I have." Maddie says, "but that... doesn't make any sense." Rhydian says, "I know, it must be confusing for you Maddie." Maddie says, "then explain it to me, please." Rhydian takes her hand and brings her to the living room saying, "it would be a lot easier if showed you instead." Maddie asks, "show me?." Rhydian nods replying, "I think I can break through whatever is keeping your memories blocked, but in order to do that, I will have to mark you." Maddie was confused by his words saying, "I am not sure I understand what you mean, Rhydian." Rhydian explains, "it's a bite, a bite shared between Alpha and mate, an act of bonding and... an act of devotion, If I mark you, Maddie I can pull your memories to the surface like a command, I can show you your past." Maddie takes a deep breath before nodding and says, "okay." Rhydian comes closer asking, "where do you want me to mark you? tell me where, Maddie, tell me where to take you." Maddie replies, "you can mark me, near my ear... on my neck." Rhydian says, "okay, come here." He pulls her closer and dips her, holding her as she closes her eyes saying, "try and relax, and trust me." Maddie says, "I do, I trust you Rhydian." She opens her eyes to see Rhydian close to her saying, "hold onto me if you need to, Maddie." Maddie grips his shoulder as he breathes in her scent and feels his eyes closing. Rhydian says, "ready?." Maddie nods as Rhydian's teeth sink over the curve of her neck. Maddie gasp however there is no pain, just light pleasure; he says, "now- cumimhnigh ormsa." Rhydian's arm come around Maddie as her body goes limp and her minds slips away. Slowly Maddie begins to see an image pull together like a puzzle pieces slotting into her memory from different corners of her mind. 

Maddie sees in her flashback narrating, 'I was a child....' She hides behind the wall peeking through a cracked door to see Daniel talking to a woman. Maddie looks at the woman instantly recognizing her as 'mom?.' Emma says, "it can't be true, can it?." Daniel says, "the prophecy is never wrong, darling and if she's prophesied to bring down our entire pack, the answer is clear, we kill Maddie before she can destroy us all." Emma looks at Daniel who comes over her and kisses her hard while young Maddie slowly backs away, panic and fear flowing in her body. She runs out into the campsite thinking, 'oh god, I need him, I need my best friend.' Maddie yells, "Rhydian! Rhydian are you home?." As there is no answer Maddie unzips the tent and comes straight in to see young Rhydian as calm and kind ever. Rhydian says, "Mads? What's up? are you ok?." Maddie replies, "my dad.... he-.... he said he wants to kill me." Rhydian was stunned saying, "what? I won't let Alpha hurt you, no matter what, you are best friend Maddie, and we are going to get married one day." 

Maddie looks at Rhydian with a faint smile however both are left worried when Emma come calling, "Maddie? Where are you, my sweetheart? Mommy just wants to talk." Emma comes into the tent saying, "here you are, love I just want to talk." Maddie replies, "no... get out of here.... you want to kill me!." Emma says, "why? what are you talking about? did you eavesdrop on your father's conversation?." Emma comes closer saying calmly, "listen sweetie, he didn't mean that and even if he did, he would have to get past me first." Maddie was sceptical saying, "really mommy?." Emma opens her arms saying, "really, come here baby girl." Maddie hugs her mom as Emma says, "that's right no one is going to hurt you, after all that's my duty as your mom." Maddie feels her back being stroked however Maddie lets go saying confused, "what do you mean by that, mommy?." Within a second Emma hands curl tight around Maddie's neck as her eyes glow dark and her teeth bare choking her. Rhydian comes behind and punches her saying, "let her go!." Despite Rhydian's attempt to push her off, Emma knocks him back with a swipe of her hand. Rhydian tumbles back knocking over an oil lamp as fire begins to spread onto the tent fabric; Emma roars with fury as the flames begin to spread and rise higher.
