Chapter 22

Jake says, "you're right, it is enough... enough of her!." Jake storms off as everyone is silent however Maddie feels a tug at her side; she turns to see Akira hugging her saying, "Maddie, I am so happy you are here and thank you for saving me." Maddie says, "aww sweetie, I would do it again." Rhydian says, "you must all be hungry, let's go eat." Later that evening Rhydian brings Maddie to her room and eases her gently on the bed. He asks, "would you like me to stay again?." Maddie thinks, 'he doesn't need another restless night.' Maddie remembers his nightmare from the morning replying, "no, that's ok, you could a night in your own bed." Rhydian says, "ok, if you are sure." He is about to head out however turns back to her saying, "Good night and... feel better soon." He leaves as Maddie changes slowly before soon laying in her bed for the first time alone in ages as she feels her eyes feeling heavy and sleeps. However, hours later, in the cover of darkness Maddie soon awakes startled to find a sharp hand around her mouth and she stares in horror at a pair of hateful eyes. She sees Jake looking at her with anger in his eyes saying, "time to put an end to you, traitor. You have already caused enough, trouble." Maddie feels the panic in her body as her airway feels blocked and her vision begins to feel blurry thinking, 'oh god, he's going to kill me! no, I cannot die like this.' Maddie bites down on his hand as hard as she can as Jake lets go saying, "Shit! Get Off!." 

Maddie crashes off the bed as Jake comes on top of her pining her arm as she cries out in pain feeling her wound reopen. Jake says, "this could have been fast but now I think I will take my time with you." Maddie eyes widen in shock saying, "n-no....." She closes her eyes as soon Jake is thrown off her as she reopens to see a Wolfblood in front of her; she gets up saying, "R-Rhydian... thank god you are here." Jake snarls angrily before changing into his Wolfblood as Maddie watches them thinking, 'Oh no, I need to help Rhydian.' She turns to the lamp, grabs it, and throws it at Jake as Rhydian uses the opportunity to swipe him aside. Maddie gasps as Rhydian is thrown against a wall as his Wolfblood hits the stone hard and slumps to the floor. Maddie calls out, "RHYDIAN!." Rhydian lays unconscious as Jake comes closer with his razor-sharp teeth about to make his final attack however Rhydian strikes back and pins Jake fast to the ground. Everyone soon comes in as Kayden asks, "whoa, what's going on?." Maddie replies, "please help Rhydian!." Ryan asks, "Jake's attacking him?." Ellie says, "we are on it, stay back Maddie." Rhydian soon changes back to his human form telling Kayden and Ryan to restrain Jake as Ellie says, "Jake, how could you-." Jake replies, "how could I not!." Rhydian says, "take him to the barn!." All three of them look at Rhydian in shock as his eyes illuminate with gold saying, "Now!." 

They nod and drag Jake out of the room as Rhydian turns to her putting the rest of his clothes on. Maddie noticed the tension from the others asking, "Rhydian, what's the barn?." Rhydian replies, "stay here, I will be back soon." Maddie says, "wait, I want to come with you." Rhydian coldly says, "this doesn't concern you." Maddie was stunned by Rhydian's word saying, "Excuse me? he tried to kill me, remember? Let me come." Rhydian says, "I said, no!." Rhydian leaves the room as Maddie thinks, 'his words were so cold like ice.' Maddie tries to open the door as she soon sees it is locked and looks around before noticing the air vent which Akira used to sneak in the room. Maddie slowly climbs inside and begins to feel dizzy from her wound however keeps going. Soon the next morning Maddie comes out and sees the barn hearing Jake screaming, "No! Get Off Me!." Maddie slowly sneaks to the barn door and just as she is about to enter, the way gets blocked by Kayden. Kayden says, "well, if it isn't our escape artist." Maddie says, "please Kayden, don't lock me up again." Kayden says, "don't worry, that's not the first thing on my list of things to do." Maddie says surprised, "it's not?." Kayden shakes his head saying, "get in here," Maddie is about to say something however Kayden pulls her into the barn as he leads her down a narrow wooden staircase that descend below ground. Maddie asks, "w-what's down here?." Kayden replies, "it's where we take the worst of our kind, they go down... but they never come up." Maddie finally reaches the bottom seeing Rhydian in front of Jake who is tied against a chair with injuries to his face asking, "is that all you got?."
