Chapter 49

Maddie looks at Rhydian still holding the dagger as she says, "I'm-I'm sorry-." With all her strength she relaxes her hand dropping the dagger against the marble altar. She turns to Zion and Daniel saying, "I can't do it, I won't!." Zion says, "you don't have a choice, I just married you, Maddie that means you're my mate now, I've got complete control over you." His eyes glow the same menacingly eerie red, threatening to command her in a way she's never been commanded before. He says, "Now... pick that dagger up and kill him." Maddie is shocked as she braces herself for what's about to happen next however nothing happens and she feels in complete control over her body. Zion angrily says, "I said KILL HIM!." Maddie eyes widen in anger as she feels the command wash over her saying, "Zion you're weaker than I thought, is that all you've got?." Zion was stunned replying, "what? No!." Zion turns to Daniel asking, "what the hell is happening? Why isn't she doing as I command?." Daniel replies, "it shouldn't be possible, unless...." He instantly grabs Maddie by the throat lifting her into the air. Rhydian calls out, "MADDIE!." Daniel's eyes turn red asking, "you didn't bond with that bastard, did you? You didn't fucking marry him, did you?." Maddie looks at Daniel as Rhydian screams out, "she didn't! LET HER go!." Maddie remembers something in her mind thinking, 'hold on... Rhydian and I made passionate love in the moonlight, his touch on every part of my body, his words in the dark... he made a vow to me, and I made a vow to him.' Maddie eyes fill with anger, and she boldly says, "we did bond, last night beneath the full moon... I swore my life to him, and he swore his life to me, I am bonded to Rhydian now and forever." Zion snarls saying, "then, I'll just tear the two of you apart." Daniel drops Maddie to the ground and lunges over her saying, "seems I no longer have a use for you, child, such a pity." 

Rhydian says, "Maddie! Use me!." Rhydian finally gets his hand free and reaches for her as she looks at his desperate outstretched hand feeling the promise of power crackle in the air between them. He says, "Now, Maddie! Please!." Maddie doesn't need to think twice and instantly reaches out to take Rhydian's hand; she feels everything within the touch thinking, 'woah I feel everything of Rhydian, his deepest secrets, his innermost desire, his strongest fears and his love for me.' Rhydian says, "Maddie..." Maddie feels in her body and wonders, 'this feeling... I've never felt so strong.' She soon pushes off Daniel and stands up saying, "all of you... Kneel.." Zion was shocked saying, "No...No!." Zion and Dion do as commanded dropping to one knee as her orders force them down both snarling at Maddie. Daniel says, "I never imagined you'd be capable of this." Maddie says, "that's because you never believed in me, you never believed in anyone other than yourself Daniel." Maddie rushes to Rhydian loosening the chains as soon as he is free he holds her and gives her a passionate kiss. Rhydian says, "you did it, Mads!." Maddie says, "we both did it, Rhydian." Rhydian says, "no, this was all you." Rhydian holds Maddie however sees Zion glaring at him saying, "but it looks like this isn't over yet." Zion says, "No, not yet." Maddie turns to see Zion slowly rising to his feet and holding the poisoned dagger in his hand. Rhydian shields Maddie saying, "stay behind me, Maddie." Maddie thinks, 'no, Rhydian's too weak from being tortured... I need to get Zion away from him.' Maddie says, "I'm sorry Rhydian... I have to do this." Maddie shoves Rhydian aside and runs off as Rhydian says, "Maddie, don't!." Zion screams, "get back here now!." 

Just as Maddie had thought, Zion chased her deep into the woods as she comes to her sharp cliff skidding her halt. Zion says, "oh little girl, that wasn't very smart of you, was it?." He comes closer saying, "it's too bad you chose to bind yourself to that useless sack of shit back there, you would have been so much happier with me." Maddie folds her arm firmly replying, "happier isn't possible without Rhydian." Zion says, "let me say that again, you would have been happier with me because all of your little friends would have survived but now I will kill them slowly, it will be your fault Maddie!." Maddie clenches her fist thinking, 'this man will never rest, he'll never leave me and Rhydian alone!.' Zion tries to grab Maddie who dodges out of the way as he tumbles over the side of the cliff. Maddie watches as he falls far into the ravine and out of sight. Maddie says, "goodbye Zion, rot in hell." She rushes back to the altar as Rhydian looks at Maddie. Maddie says, "I'm ok Rhydian, it's...it's over." Daniel says, "oh, it's far from over, Maddie, don't look so surprised, did you really think that little show would be enough to put me down? The game is over now!." He takes his truest form and holds the dagger. Maddie was shocked to see him that he was not a Wolfblood but a monster from a nightmare. Rhydian says, "Maddie, we won't beat him like this, we've got to shift." They both shift into their Wolfblood forms as Daniel says, "It won't save you." Just then the pack members arrive with Ryan yelling, "get the hell away from her." Kayden says, "don't frown, guys the cavalry's here." Rhydian mind links the pack saying, "I thought I told you all to stay away." Charlie says, "you did tell us to stay back, but we weren't going to abandon the woman who saved our pack from that fire." Daniel says sarcastically, "some post wedding entertainment? Lovely." Kayden growls saying, "let's get this asshole once and for all." The pack members lunge on Daniel as Rhydian pulls Maddie back behind the stone altar, the two of them shifting back into their human form.
