Chapter 11

I still couldnt believe that my little mate had actually had the strength to kill her mate, and not just any wolf but an alpha wolf. Now she was just dealing with the excrutiating pain of it like it was nothing. The small glimpse of pain that kari had sent me was enough to make my knees buckle, it had taken all of my concentration to not hit the ground, the small gasp of pain i had let out was by accident but i was lucky it didnt come out as a scream instead.

Not only was she dealing with all of that but now she was unknowingly headed into a meeting with the grand council of elders. Shit, i forgot to tell her, i suddenly realized.

I pulled kari to a stop beside me. She rolled her eyes and glared up at me, "what now?" she snapped.

I bit back a snarky comment a said instead, "i need to let you know what your headed into first" She sighed and let go of my hand, crossing her arms over her chest and tapped her foot impatiently at me, "its not just the alpha and luna in there, love, the grand council has come down to try and get this sorted out"

Kari stopped tapping her foot and her eyes widened, her arms dropping to her side for a second before balling into fists. "Fine, fine i can handle the grand council"

She seemed like she was trying to hyper herself up for the actual battle as she kept repeating those words to herself over and over again. Suddenly she winced and i immediately reached for her hand, taking it in mine to try and help ease the mind numbing pain i knew had to be building up inside her again.

She gasped at the sudden contact and looked down at our conjoined hands, "thank you"

I nodded, "i'm right here, love, remember that"

She nodded and tightened her grip on my hand. She gave another quick nod before starting to walk back up the stairs to meet the grand council, a look of pure determination on her face. I followed, my heart over flowing with love for this five foot six ball of fury that is my mate.

We all walked up the steps and through the double doors that lead into the town hall building and i lead the way to the council chambers. The grand council had set themselves up in the main meeting room, a space large enough to fit the over one thousand inhabitants of the Baywatch pack. The space was large, with rows of seats going up and all coming to a stop at the bottom about fifty feet away from the council table. Everything was dark wood panneled to make the overly large space look smaller than it really was. The elders sat around the oval table at the bottom of the stadium sized room, waiting for our arrival with alpha kile and her luna, martha.

We headed down the stairs and sat in the first row of seats, and waited for the council to address us, as was procedure.

"We need to come to an agreement, gentlemen, all we are doing now is arguing over schematics" elder thomas anders said. He has always been known as the peacekeeper of the group.

The council of elders is made up with one representative from each group from each reservation, out of those one hundred and fifty representatives only the oldest and wisest twelve are chosen to be apart of the grand council. I have never met with the high elders, but being a coven leader myself i was forced at a young age to study them and memorize who they are.

"What we need is to know the full story of events that have lead us to this unfortunate predicament" elder sarah myers said, sending a pointed look our way.

"Agreed. Miss karis will you please come forward" elder baron carton said, gesturing for kari to step up.

Kari gulped and then nodded, rising to her feet. I rose with her, refusing to let my mate face the council alone, and knowing i needed to stay in constant contact with her.
