Chapter 20

After the rest of the reservation had been served my little group and i grabbed ourselves some food and sat down on the grass in a circle to eat. Ally sat in marks lap as he tenderly fed her little bites of spaghetti off his fork, and the rest of us jokingly gagged at the display of affection. Alissa sat closely beside andy and i on the other side of the circle from the cute older couple, mary and anna sat on either side of us not caring to much about the displays of affection.

"So what exactly did you say to everyone?" i asked alissa.

She shrugged, "i told them all the truth, that we are headed for war over how our pack is open minded and we dont judge people based on who they love. That there are some reservations out there that disagree with our way of life and want us taken out. I also told them about you and how you had to make the terrible decision and choose between the life you want and the life that your birth family wanted for you. I didnt paint you in a bad light if thats what your thinking-"

"Oh, no, i would never think that." i said quickly. "I was just curious what all you said to everyone, alot of the people from the rez seemed off when we were feeding them food. Everyone kept looking at me weird like they were in awe or something, i dont know but i didnt exactly like it. Im nothing special just because i have two chosen mates."

Everyone rolled their eyes and shook their heads at me, "kari, when are you going to get it through that thick head of yours that you are something special? The fact that you have two chosen mates alone makes you special, but now that we know that you have demon blood in you as well makes you even more so." andy said, patting my hand. I stuck my tongue out at him at the same time that everyone gasped.

"You have what?" ally asked.

"That explains alot." mark added.

"Damn girl, you just get everything good, huh. You get the hot mate and the special powers, like damn save some for the rest of us." anna chuckled.

I gave everyone the middle finger and went back to picking at my plate of food. "Seriously, demon blood?" mary asked, her voice small and frail but with a hint of awe.

I shrugged, "according to elder Baron my great-grandmother was a demon. Apparently ive been using bits of magic my whole life without realizing it."

Ally and mark shared a look that said they believed it before mark said, "that honestly makes alot of sense. You were really good at hide and seek as a kid, i remember it used to drive jane crazy" he gave a sad sort of chuckle, "not to mention how you always remember everything you read, even the most obscure facts, i always knew that you had something special in you, we both did."

Ally nodded and squeezed her mates hand that was wrapped around her waist, "it was one of the many reasons we were so happy to bring you into the folds of our family. Your special, kari, you always have been. We have tried to get you to see it to but your just so damn hard headed."Yet again i stuck my tongue out in a very un-lady like way and ally shook a finger at me, "watch it young lady, your still not to old for me to bend you over my knee."

I laughed, "ally, you have been using that threat against me ever since we were kids and yet you have never done it, pretty sure it doesnt work on me anymore."

My foster mother wriggled out of her mates arms and stood up, placing her hands on her hips and trying to look fierce even though she was only five foot even. "Watch it, young lady, you keep it up and i might finally follow through on this threat."

Everyone laughed because honestly she just looked adorable. Mark reached out and took ahold of his mate, pulling her back into the fold of his arms and kissing her on the cheek, "calm down, my fierce warrior, save the ass kicking for the battlefield."
