Solomon and Lola decided to name their son after Roger. His name is now Lee Roger, so we call him Lee. Lola had a lot of complications after her pregnancy. Lee came out healthy and strong, but Lola turned really sick. The doctors took many tests but everything came back negative, which was awesome, but my Lola wasn't well. She had lost nearly 30 pounds. She was already small. Solomon showered her with love, but she felt so useless and unattractive in front of him which caused her to go into a deep depression. Now with two young boys and a sick wife, Solomon needed lots of help. Me, my mother, Aquila, Sheba, Leah, Stacy, Maxine, even David, Trevor, and Roger would help as often as they could, which wasn't very often at all. I still had my home, but I found myself staying with Lola and Solomon days at a time.
We're sitting at the table eating dinner when Solomon says, "Lola and I think you should move closer to us."
I look at Lola. Though she has a faint smile it looks as if it hurts, so I answer, "As much as I love being here so often, I miss my home."
"We'll make sure your home's taken care of, until you're over it, then we'll sell it." Solomon teases.
Lola's just staring my way so I ask, "Baby, you want to say something?"
She nods. Sighing, Solomon looks so distraught as he caresses her back saying, "Tell me in my ear, then I'll say it."
She whispers in his ear then he nods repeating, "She said you're right mommy. You deserve to live your own life. We'll keep doing what we're doing. It's working just fine."
Blankly staring a moment, Solomon then focuses on Hyde asking, "Hyde, are you okay little man?"
Cutting his eyes at his daddy, he refocuses on Lola. Solomon asks again, "Hyde?"
Hyde shakes his head no. "What's wrong?"
"I want mommy back."
Lola starts crying. Solomon sighs, "Come to mommy, man." Hyde crawls into her lap and just hugs her tight.
By a miracle, Lola starts getting better. Within in weeks she's back to normal and gaining weight. Solomon, Lola, Hyde, and Lee all come to church with me this Sunday. Pastor has Lola tell her testimony and everyone starts saying Hyde has the gift of healing. Hyde's loving the attention. Service is now over. Lola and Hyde are up front next to Pastor speaking with members. Solomon and I are standing by our seats watching. I'm holding Lee, who's sound asleep but I feel eyes. I look around and I find Elgin staring my way. Once our eyes lock he heads towards us.
After kissing my cheek he greets, "God bless you sister Mae. God bless you brother King. That's an incredible testimony Lola and Hyde have there! And the doctors never found an ailment?"
I simply shake my head no. His eyes now fixed on King, King smiles shrugging. Elgin then shouts, "Fascinating! Our God is a healer!"
Huffing, I look towards Lola. Solomon glances my way exclaiming, "Amen, Pastor Spears."
Hesitant Elgin continues, "Love conquers all King. Your family is a living testament that real love in marriage still exists. Your family is just beautiful to see. God couldn't allow this story to end. The world, especially the youth needs to see this. Amen?"
"Amen."
"The bible says who God has joined together, let no man or woman, put asunder. I'll be earnestly praying for you and your family King."
"Thanks Pastor Spears."
"Sister Mae."
"Brother Elgin." I say with a pressed smile. Elgin nods my way, and then leaves.
