Well, I was wrong in thinking it couldn't be any worse. I immediately call Joshua. Although he told the police he and I were together, somehow the police aren't accepting his words. He says, "I don't get it Mae. It's as if they know what's happened already. They tried to imply maybe you and I were in cahoots, but I assured them we met that day in the water. My photos are our alibi that you and I were together as she swam off alone."
"Did they tell you why they suspect foul play and not simply drowning?"
"Now that they didn't say, but they assured me she hadn't drowned. What did they ask you Mae?"
"Nothing really. I told them exactly what you told them. They thanked me and sent me home. ...Well, thanks Joshua. Sorry you're involved with this craziness, but if you hear anything else in Florida will you please let me know?"
"Of course, Mae. Sorry for your loss again."
"Thanks. Bye."
I know Gypsy knows more, but she's tight lipped on this one. After another two weeks of silence from Solomon's family I then call my lawyer. I tell him my story and he instructs me to direct anyone who calls me to him.
Trevor and Drake have been wonderful. I find myself falling in love with Drake all over again. We three are at my home for dinner. It's been another excruciating week of knowing nothing. It's then I ask, "Has anyone in Solomon's family reached out to either of you?"
Drake glances at Trevor before answering, "They know not to call me."
Trevor glances at his dad then me before stuffing his mouth and shaking his head no.
"Well, this is unacceptable! I want to see my grand babies! They're all I have left of Lola!"
Drake instantly grabs my hand saying, "Baby calm down."
Snatching away I shout, "No!"
Jumping up I ask, "Where's my phone? I have the right to see my daughter's children! I'm not going to allow them to brainwash my babies making them think I'm Mrs T!"
Trevor jumps up and snatches my phone yelling, "Ma! Calm down! I've talked to King!"
Drake's now standing behind me. Calm he says, "Sit down baby. Listen to Trevor."
Eyes bucked I ask, "What's he saying?"
"Nothing ma, he's just grieving. Stacy or Leah keep Hyde and Lee right now. Solomon isn't right in the head these days. He isn't really speaking to anyone. He kicks it with me. We smoke and drink together, but that's it. He just wants to reminisce on Lola. He's hurting real bad, ma. His distance has nothing to do with you, but his family's does. That's why you haven't seen Hyde and Lee. Once I get King back on track, I know he'll let you see them."
"How are you going to get him back on track?"
"I don't know, but he only wants to be around me these days. So, while I'm there I'm going to do the best I can."
"I need to go see him. This is ridiculous."
Both Drake and Trevor yell, "No!"
Trevor's getting upset so Drake says, "Trev, relax. Sit down. Your mom's just stressed."
He then grabs me by my arms, looking directly into his eyes saying, "And you, have faith in your son. He's done what only Lola and Mrs T could do and that's win King's heart and trust. Allow Trev to continue doing what he's doing. King's family thanks him daily for watching over King, so please don't interfere. King is on the edge. If you aid in pushing him over, Hyde and Lee will be gone forever too. Is that what you want?"
