The clock ticked insesintly as Skylar laid awake in her temporary room. An hour passed, then another, and another, all while she watched the second hand click by.

12:00 didn't seem quite late enough. All of the spirits would definitely be asleep by 2:00. All but Sandy and Tooth that is, who were currently at work, though she wouldn't have to worry about them.

In all honesty, the gaurdians seemed nice enough. It really wasn't about them, she just couldn't stay here. She worked alone. That was that. And she most definitely couldn't work with Jack. How she had managed to hold herself back from killing him was nothing short of a miracle. Thank Angela for that.

She had never actually met Angela, or any of the greater spirits for that matter, none of the lessers had. Not including Manny, whose entire job was to watch over the lesser spirits (though he usually only had time for a quick "you're special now" conversation before going back to whatever it is he does), the greater spirits didn't really have time for meet and greets between running the very fabric of the universe.

Angela "Guardian Angel", Grimmhald Reaper, Tom "Father time", Nitsie "Mother nature", Manny "Man in the Moon". They didn't typically stop to sign commemorative photos.

Her windmill had been compromised so she might have to find a new, temporary home base. One that a certain nosy snowman hadn't broken into. Certain American states were horribly stormy this time of year, she could probably go unnoticed if she moved into Washington or something, in the end it was just temporary so it didn't really matter. She had worked really hard on her windmill so she would be sad to say goodbye when she went to pack up her stuff, but she could probably return after taking care of the Lilly situation.

If she was able to take care of the Lilly situation.

Skylar shook the thought out of her head before looking back at the clock.

1:18 was close enough to 2:00, who's really counting after the hour mark anyway?

The brunette silently stood from her bed, carefully putting on her belt and making sure everything attached was as secure as it could possibly be. She gave herself a once over in the mirror before cracking open the door and looking both ways to make sure the coast was clear.

Skylar silently moved through the empty hallway, taking the turns she remembered taking earlier. There was a map in the room they met in the previous day, if she could get there and find a path to an exit, she could zip home.

Skylar checked both directions each time she rounded a corner, continueing her stealthy escape. She didn't know where the gaurdians slept, but the less noise the better in this case. Though North seemed like he would be a heavy sleeper and Bunny was at his warren, Jack seemed to love nothing more than wreaking havoc in her life.

Thunder boomed outside as Skylar made it to the doors leading to the meeting room, the patter of rain droning on. She looked under the door and through the cracks to make sure the coast was clear. Once it was confirmed, she slowly opened the door, trying her best to muffle the creaking. Stepping away slowly, she turned into the empty room, mentally celebrating as she made her way over to the map.

Exit. Exit. Exit. There it was! Just two lefts and a right. Skylar almost jumped with glee, relishing in the joy brought by even the mere idea of freedom. She started down the hallway, repeating the directions in her head.

Left at the first fork, then continue down the hall, past mineral storage, a third of the way there. Take another left just before the letter answering offices, she could basically smell the fresh air. Lastly a right at-

"1:34, Bunny wins. I really though she was more patient than that." The same smooth-as-ice voice which she had been mentally complaining about hours earlier swam through her ears.

"Nah mate, told you, she's too desperate to wait the full hour." A familiar Australian accent sounded out next.

Four cups of coffee sat in front of four guardians, the two bluer ones of the group looking noticeably more smug than the others as they spoke.

"Fuck my entire life" Skylar mumbled as she stopped in her tracks, her gaze flicking between the spirits who seemed to be waiting for her.

"Wanna cup?" Bunny asked. He held an array of cards in his paws as he gestured to the cup of coffee next to him.

"I don't even know how to respond right now" Skylar replied, glued in place. "Are you playing uno?"

"We got bored" Jack shrugged, as if pulling an all-nighter to make sure your captive wouldn't escape was the most normal thing in the world.

"Great," Skylar paused for a second, looking around. "well I'm gonna go.." Skylar zipped to the door only to find it barred by glowing yellow sand.

"Oh come on!" Skylar turned on her foot, spinning around to face the guardians. "I work alone! I told you!"

"Yes, but we do really really need your help right now," Tooth flew up closer to Skylar "and I don't mean to be... well mean, but Lilly is targeting you and you may not survive going up against her again" Tooth chittered, taking a break from managing the many smaller fairies flying to and away from her with information.

"Plus, we're gonna have a such a great time sparky! I mean who doesn't love a sleepover" Jack walked up casually, dragging his staff along the ground before picking it back up and swinging it to lay on his shoulders once more.

"What are you talking about?" Skylar's eyebrows scrunched in confusion.

"Well..." Tooth began "since we... we can't be out here every night, and we need to make sure you don't go running after danger, we decided to change your... lodging a bit."

Skylar looked up to Bunny, Tooth, and Sandy, whose faces all confirmed her worst fears. Jack was simply grinning at her widely.

"Oh you have got to be kidding me,"
