POV: Second

It was the middle of the night. You decided that taking off on foot was better than staying put. Slowly you cracked open the window to your room and looked around. You found it ironic that this was the second time in a month that you'd decided to jump out of a window. No one seemed to be lurking around the inn, so you decided this was as good a chance as any.

Your knees pop on impact when you land on the ground. You weren't sure how much more your body could take of your wanna-be parkour antics. You throw your hood on and start heading towards the road that leads out of Laria. You were on high alert. You weren't convinced that getting out of this town was going to be this easy. But no one was stopping you, no one was watching as far as you could tell. Just as you reached the end of the town's main road you were stopped by an invisible barrier. Your blood went cold as ice. You didn't understand how a barrier like this was possible. You try pushing on the wall with both hands but it was solid as rock. You didn't understand why these people would lock themselves and possibly tourists inside.

"Awe leaving so soon?" A voice calls out from behind you.

Slowly, so slowly you turn around to see Grinella and the innkeeper, Erika, standing not too far behind.

"I have a job I need to get back to. I can't stay here forever now can I?" you say trying to sound nonchalant.

"Of course, but why are you deciding to run off in the middle of the night like some kind of criminal? (Y/n)? You're not unsettled by our town now are you?" Grinella says with a serpentine smile.

You were at a loss, you kept your cool, but you were calculating all of your options. You couldn't leave with this barrier in tack, and you weren't sure if you had enough strength to overtake two well-built women. You set down your bag and gesture to the barrier behind you. "What is this? I can hardly believe it's legal to lock people inside a town against their will," you evade Grinelle's obvious attempt to get you on uneven footing. "Is this why your transportation is out of service for the week?"

"Oh, that? That was yesterday's ritual. We really do wish you could have made it. It's a special little tradition we do here in Laria." Grinelle replies, but you know that she wasn't completely telling the truth.

"Erika, please tell me you're the reasonable one here. You can't possibly expect me to leave my family unattended and abandon my job for a week?" You say, trying a new tactic. You considered that maybe Erika could be swayed through sympathy. She looked uncomfortable and avoided your gaze. Erika slides ever so slightly closer to Grinelle as if she were a shy child meeting someone for the first time.

"I'm sure your family won't be missing you," Grinelle says smugly.

"And how would you know that? My family has probably started looking for me by now."

Grinella takes a step closer to you and you take a step back.

"Aren't you curious about how we do our rituals here?" she says ignoring my prior question.

"No, not really. That's your community's business, I have no desire to get involved."

"Yes, but I think it involves your community as well."

You were confused, you couldn't quite grasp what she was getting at. You kept your expressions neutral, you didn't want the snake to see you looking curious.

"(Y/n), we told you that we recreated the ritual of the barrier that locked the monster under the mountain. Do you know how our ancestors managed such a challenge?"

You sighed and decided to entertain her antics. You were certain that Grinelle and possibly everyone in this weird ass town were lunatics. "How Grinelle?" you say bored and uninterested.

"By sacrificing monsters of course."

You felt sick. You felt like you were outside of your body. You didn't want to believe that you heard what she said. No, you didn't believe her. How could they have taken on multiple monsters and had no one come for retribution? You knew that if Asgore and Toriel knew this town would be leveled in seconds.

"How-"

"Oh don't worry about that. A better question would be, who is this family that's coming to save you?"

Your throat began going dry, you prayed that none of your friends came looking for you. You prayed that G would stay away.

"But he won't. You know he won't leave you alone, neither will the comedian."

You didn't react to Chara's words, you couldn't react. You can't let them know anything more about you.

"So what? Am I a prisoner here now or something?" You say through gritted teeth.

"Oh no! You're gonna be our bait."

You gave a look of confusion, but before you could say anything you were grabbed by two large men. You began kicking and struggling against their hold, but it was useless.

"Oh don't look so upset (Y/n), we're all gonna have a lot of fun."
