Chapter 34

POV: Third Person

G and Sans sit on the couch together waiting for Frisk to come over. The two of them rarely ever talk anymore, their relationship tenuous. Sighing G puts his skull in his hands, the stress and tension starting to catch up with him. Beside him Sans sits with his hands in his pockets reclined onto the couch, the skeleton felt a roller-coaster of emotions but kept up his usual unfazed facade. The door opens and Frisk solemnly walks in. Standing up, G stares at Frisk and steps closer to her. "What's wrong?" Gently placing a hand on her shoulder G looks down at her tanned face. Frisk's shoulders slump lower as she looks up with tear lined eyes, her lips wobbling a bit. "I'm sorry you guys, but I can't bring her back. Not through the timelines." dropping her head in shame Frisk wipes tears from her eyes. Sans stands up at that and walks over to where his brother and Frisk stood. "What do you mean you can't bring her back kid?" The question hung in the air for a couple heart beats, but it felt longer. G lifts her chin and meets her sad eyes with his worried lights. "What happened?" his voice was strained, tired as he looked into Frisk's face. Letting out a sigh she pulls out of his hands and walks over to the couch and sits on one of the arm rests. Rubbing her hands across her face, Frisk launches into how (Y/n) appeared in the void, their conversation and how she threatened to reset the world if Frisk or any of them decided to bring her back by force. When she finished everyone was silent for a few minutes. Placing a hand on her head Sans stood beside Frisk, his expression unreadable. Frisk decided to leave out the fact that Chara was trying to get her to reset the timeline and that Frisk herself had just for a second considered it.

"I told you leaving her with that determination was a bad idea. You looked at me with disgust when I said she was still a threat. Now look where we're at G, do you want to go back down there? Relive those horrors? I don't...I was trapped down there LONGER than you, suffered MORE than you, ENDURED more than you could ever imagine, I remember a hell of a lot of it too." Sans' voice was filled with rage but he didn't move from his spot beside Frisk, didn't even raise his voice. His power though, it surged through the house. G just stood near the door, his eye sockets dark and his expression was absent, empty. "I don't want to go back down there, I can't go back. We only just got out." Frisk's voice cracked a bit and Sans felt as if his soul cracked at the sound. G teleported out of the room and quickly returned in his signature leather jacket, a cigarette between his teeth. Sans turned to his brother, nothing warm in the expression at all. "I'm going to find her." G's voice was steady as he stared back at Sans.

"No, did you not hear what Frisk just said? And what happens if she resets because of your reckless choice. Just let the bitch run, if she's gone she's gone." Sans' voice was deep and cold.

"She left because you're so tangled up in your pride and morals that you couldn't see her pain and desperate want for your attention, your validation."

"Why does she need it? You're obviously still wrapped around her finger, so what does she need me for?"

G just stared at Sans, his power tingling in his hands. "Because you were her best friend. She might have made a mistake, but I know that ever since she made that mistake she's tried her damn hardest to make up for it. You forgave Frisk...Why is (Y/n) any different?"

Lighting his cigarette G slides his hands into his jean pockets and without another word G disappeared.

Frisk and Sans sat in the silence together, their fates now in the hands of G and (Y/n).
