The Harsh Reality

In Rehan's office,
   The continuous vibration of a phone compelled both Rehan and Azel to split apart from their cozy hug. "Pick it up. It might be urgent,"Rehan said to Azel who had a pout on her lips. Sometimes she really hated this device and its inventor too! Because it's an expert in ruining her peaceful times. Just like now, such a beautiful moment of theirs got interrupted by this phone!
   Rehan caressed her hair as if consoling a little child for doing her homework…he bit back his lips to stifle his laughter. At times his Wild cat would really become no less than a kid! "Don't you dare laugh at me. I hate this phone,"she threatened and whined at the same time…making him chuckle at her cuteness. Only she had the ability to get angry and whiny altogether. "I'm not doing anything. But you should receive the call, Baby…it would not ring forever, you know!"He winked at her, intentionally instigating her more.
   "I hate you as well,"she huffed, taking out her phone from her pants pocket. He showed her tongue at him,"And I love you too,"the next moment his lips met with the soft skin of her face. Instantly a red blush crept on her chubby cheeks…making him smile proudly at himself for the effect he had upon her.
   Azel didn't say or do anything more…because she knew if she would open her mouth now, then she was not going to be able to talk with the person on the other side of the phone…even in the next hour or so. Hence, she chose to put her focus on the screen of her cell-phone for the time being only. 'Zach' was seen flashing on her screen.
   She swiped the call, receiving it…before holding it to her ears,"Hello, Zach!" Rehan immediately stood on guard hearing the name of her boss. Now he actually regretted persuading her to pick up the call. "Yeah, I'm still at the conference hall,"Azel replied, Rehan's brows creased in displeasure. Why did that Zach need to know so much regarding her whereabouts?
   "Zach, what's wrong with you?"Azel almost yelled at Zachary. What was with him…questioning her every now and then? She still never said anything to him, thinking it was just out of a friendly concern. But nowadays, Zach's behavior was getting really strange when it came to her. Like calling her at odd hours to talk about absolutely nothing, wanting to accompany her everywhere and now he was literally angry with her because she was downstairs with Rehan! Like seriously?
   Azel was no kid to not understand the reason behind such unreasonable behavior of his. Yet, she was still quiet not wanting to ruin their friendship. Not only Zachary was her boss but he was a really good friend of hers. And she just didn't want to make things awkward in between them.
   "I told you I have some work with Rehan. I will come to the rooftop when I'm done here,"next minute, she gained back her composure…trying to talk with him in her usual tone. The next thing Zach said, made Azel to clench her first in anger,"I AM NOT A KID. I can take care of myself. And the person you are talking about is not some roadside hooligan to harm me. So, if you are done…I shall talk with you later,"with that saying, she cut the call, not giving another opportunity for Zachary to say anything more. She was literally shaking in anger, gnashing her teeth with one another.
   And Rehan knew Zachary said something horrible regarding him for Azel to get this angry. He didn't inquire about anything rather pulled her in his embrace. "Hey, it's okay, Sweetheart. Nobody's opinion matters for me except you, Love,"he cooed near her ears, caressing her back and hair. Azel relaxed visibly in his arms. This man was indeed the magic, the colorful sparks of her life. He always knew when she was in need of what!
   "I don't like when people who don't even know you judge you like that,"she complained, just like a child. "Me neither, Wild cat. I hate it when people point their fingers at you or your capabilities like that Martha did today,"Rehan gritted his teeth, remembering the incident of awhile ago once again. "Martha? And who is she?"Azel lifted up her face from his chest, looking at him with her right eyebrow raised. She swallowed her chuckles that were trying their best to escape from her lips knowing very well that he goofed up the name of Marie with Martha.
    Rehan flickered on her forehead, her teasing face almost immediately turned into a scowling one…as she started rubbing that place. "Why did you hit me like that, you crazy Lunatic?"She threw a nasty glare in his direction. "Hit? Sweetheart, it was just a flicker but you are acting as if I just hit you with this table,"he kept his right hand on his right cheek, looking at her with a bemused expression…he could not help but look at his Wife in disbelief, she was really the master of overacting. Maybe the title of 'Drama Queen' was made only after observing her.
   "Whatever you name it, it still was a hitting case. You hit me…haw! How could you, Mr. Tyler?"Azel fake gasped, covering her mouth with both her hands as if he hit her for real. Rehan sighed at her overdramatic self,"How did I get you, my Cartoon queen?"He kept both his hands on her waist, pulling her within his reach making her stand exactly in front of himself. "Did you just call me a…."she could not finish her sentence instead her eyes widened at his actions. He looked at her with his mischievous smile, placing another kiss on her left cheek,"You want more as a compensation for hitting you, Love?"He winked at her, making the already blushing red girl turn more scarlet. "You are my Cartoon…my cute cartoon wild cat,"he placed one more kiss on her forehead, attaching both of their frons together. Both closed their eyes, perceiving this heavenly moment in between themselves.
   "By the way it was Marie not Martha, Mr. Tyler,"she suddenly remembered why everything started in the first place. It took a few minutes for Rehan to understand which topic she was talking about exactly,"Marie or Martha or Monalisa…it doesn't matter to me, Ms. Edward. All I care is she cannot treat my Wife the way she was being with you today, Mrs. Tyler Edward. I don't know what you both have in person, but I would never give her or anyone else the liberty to talk with you with such indecency,"he stated quite angrily, it was not only the truth but his emotions as well. And no one knew it better than Azel exactly how much true Rehan Tyler was when it came to keeping his words.
   Azel cupped both of his cheeks,"Relax, my angry young man. Re, it's okay. She doesn't even matter to me…and it's absolutely useless talking with her because she believes what she wants to. Moreover, why should we ruin our project for such a trivial issue? You, me, Fayza, Liam, your employees, the fashion designing department of Fashionista, Mr. Moore and his people, Mr. Miles and his team…we all worked day and night for this one project, Re…we cannot let it get ruined at the last moment…not for our personal feud at least.
   It's not that I'm siding with Marie…and I'm also aware of how irritated you are regarding Zach's behavior. Re, Marie is his cousin and it might be the issue that he never says anything to her…which I can understand. And I really don't need him to take a stand for me…cause I'm already enough for myself. As for the concern of today, I really didn't want to ruin the whole ambience by starting a cat fight with her here in front of everyone. It would not only ruin my name but also would harm my company's name. And I cannot let that happen, Re. Sometimes it's good to stay quiet rather than wasting your time and energy on someone who would still hold you responsible for every bad thing that happens in her life. And I was also trying to do the same,"Azel tried to make him understand her point of view.
   "But it's not okay for me. Okay, suppose that's the reason that Remizera doesn't fire her…but at least that man should have the guts to take a stand for his other subordinate about whom he claims to care for so much. He addresses you as his friend…but which friend in his right frame of mind lets his friend face such kind of discrimination? If she is his cousin then you are his collegue. You are not in that company for nothing…rather it's your hard work which took you where you are right now.
  But he seems to take everything for granted! He might be someone who could tolerate such things happening in front of his eyes. But I cannot! I certainly cannot! It's not okay for me. When I can never endure any discrimination within my employees..then here the matter is about you, Wild cat. How could I let her mistreat you like that?"At this point Rehan was literally seething in anger. He was hell angry at Marie as well as Zachary. They were clearly taking advantage of his Wild cat knowing she would always prioritize the reputation of the company, the prosperity of it before her.
  Azel opened her mouth, trying to say something but before that Rehan again started speaking,"No, Wild cat. Not today…please. I have always done everything you wished for…and I will keep on doing so in the future as well. Just spare me this one time.
   If she takes my warning seriously then it's good for her, otherwise I really cannot guarantee you about what I'm going to do next. She would be a part of this project not because of her skills just because it was you who wanted it to be the way…and I promise that I would not create any fuss regarding this,"she was about to take a sigh of relief,"As long as she would be in her own limits. If ever she tries to step out of her boundaries, she will have to face the ugly side of Rehan Tyler. And you would not stop me at that time…promise me that,"the next moment all her relief flew away hearing him. He really was one hell of a stubborn man!
   "Re, at least…."
  "Promise me, Princess. I want only this from you…please,"she could not help but hold his forwarded hand to seal the promise. How could you ignore someone when he would put forward such a domineering request in front of you? "Fine, I promise. Now happy?"She looked how instantly his angry face changed back to normal. As if it was not him at all, who was hell angry just awhile ago.
   "Very much. But are you very angry with me?"he asked, holding her hands in between his, placing tender kisses on her knuckles…while his brown orbs kept looking at her without blinking. He certainly knew how to melt her with making the most pitiful face…which nobody could ever resist. She could not as well…as a smile made its way to her lips at his childish actions.
   "No, I'm not,"she ruffled his hair, who happily engulfed all her love not wanting to miss even an ounce of this precious moment. "But was it really necessary?"He knew what she was talking about. "It was, Wild cat. Nobody gets away if they ever tries to mess with me or my family. Hence I took the promise from you beforehand because I never want to do anything without telling it to you or which have the slightest chance to hurt you,"his eyes were screaming the honesty of his statement. So was his tone!
   "You know you always make me fall for you more deeply…more intensely…more crazily?"Azel looked deep into his eyes while speaking with him. "Don't worry, Darling. No matter how deep, intense or crazily you fall for me…I will always be there to hold you up in my arms. After all, I exist for you only. You are the reason I take each of my breathe. It's your love which keeps me sane because I'm insanely in love with you,"Rehan professed his feelings to her. No matter how many times, in how many different ways he confessed his love…it still would bring tears of happiness in her eyes…while the shyness would veil her in it's own covers.
    "I love you too, my Lunatic. I love you way too much…with my everything. You are my everything, Re…my entire universe,"she didn't know the poetic language like him. But the few sentences she used were more than enough for him to reach over the moon. His heart would start beating crazily even with a mere glance of hers…so he needed no telling as to what might the current condition of that organ right now!

After sometime,
   All the presidents of the respective companies signed the documents finalizing that from now on till the accomplishment of this project all of them would be working together. And it was also decided that till the project got finished, the employees who were short listed for this case would be working from 'Azan Inc' as Rehan was one of the major shareholders of this project…hence he didn't want anything to go wrong with anything. He wanted everything to be done under his supervision. It was needless to say that keeping everyone under supervision was just an excuse, all he wanted was his Wild cat to be in front of his eyes till the time he had the opportunity.
   As it was a shared project and at some points they really needed to be under one roof in order to complete it. Hence, nobody except Zachary didn't mind it much. While Zachary clearly understood the ploy behind such generosity of Rehan. He tried to decline the idea as well…but in front of the majority opinions, his idea could not stand for too long. At last, finding no way, Zachary had to agree as well. It was finalized that as Fayza didn't have her office here in London hence till the ending of this project, she would also do her part of the work from Rehan's office…whenever she would be here.
    With all the conditions stated below the date was decided to be on the first week of the next month…as that much time was needed for all the shifting of the employees from every company in order to start their project. Everyone was congratulating one another regarding the successful signing off ceremony. In the midst of everything, Rehan declared to throw a small party to celebrate this happy occasion.
   Rehan was going to congratulate his Wild cat, when out of nowhere Zachary landed in between once again. "Congratulations, Junior. Finally all of our hard work is going to pay off. But now we need to work harder for the actual success we all had been waiting for,"Zach chirped, smiling widely. "Congratulations to you too, Senior. Yeah…let's do our absolute best and the rest is upto to GOD. Hoping for the best, fingers crossed,"Azel also returned back the smile..not wanting to make this awkward in between them.
    "Azel, I…"
  "Oh, Zach…I forgot, I actually wanted you to meet with someone,"She cut him in between. Though Azel had no intention of hurting Zachary like this. But she didn't want to get his hopes high only for those to get crushed later on. She didn't know why Zach would keep on behaving differently with her when he knew she already had someone she loved so much. Maybe he never took her seriously when it came to her lover! But whatever it was, she needed to clear this mess up before it got too late.
  She knew it was going to hurt him too much, but at least better late than never! Because someday or the other, Zachary needed to wake up from his dream to face the reality…the reality where Azel had always treated him as her friend only…nothing more than that.
    "Ye..ah, sure. But who is it?"Zachary was a bit confused. With whom Azel wanted to introduce him to? He already knew everyone present here. "It's me, Rehan,"the next moment, Rehan came and stood beside Azel, confusing Zachary more. "Mr. Tyler I guess I already know you, don't you think so?"Zachary raised his left eyebrow at Rehan, taunting him slyly in the process. Rehan started laughing as if Zachary just cracked a very funny joke in front of him. Zachary could not help but look at the man in front of him with a look of 'Are you crazy?' Rehan really looked no less than a crackhead in the eyes of Zachary.
   "I bet you do…but not the way it should be,"after a minute or two, Rehan finally stopped his laughter and said something that was beyond Zachary's understanding. Rehan playfully winked at the confused man in front of him. Rehan forwarded his hand towards Zachary,"Hi, I'm Rehan Tyler. Nice meeting you."
   Though Zachary was sure that this Rehan guy was definitely a man with a few broken wires in his head…yet for the sake of courtesy advanced his hand to shake it with Rehan,"Zachary Remizera. Pleased to meet with you as well, Mr. Tyler,"with a fake smile plastered on his lips, Zachary lied. Right now he was feeling everything but pleased after meeting with this Tyler guy? Never! He intentionally pressed his hand harder on Rehan's, as if trying to dominate him by doing so. Rehan really wanted to laugh at such silly actions of this guy! He really thought to scare Rehan by pulling off such stunts? What did Zachary expect from Rehan that he would leave his Wild cat by such silent threats from Zach? Really?
    Rehan didn't take back his hand instead of smiling more widely…igniting more fire inside Zachary. Azel's head snapped from Zachary to Rehan to Zachary once again…understanding the cold war they were having in between them. She cleared her throat to bring them back to reality,"Zach, this is Rehan…my longtime boyfriend…and now my husband. The only love of my life about whom I had mentioned earlier,"the moment she clarified the matter, immediately Zachary's hold on Rehan's hand loosened. His eyes became so big as if those orbs would come out of their socket anytime soon. He could not believe his ears…yet those same words kept on ringing inside his head time and again. Everything around him started spinning as he was being a mute spectator only to look at his whole world splitting apart. His heartbeat quickened while an unbearable pain erupted at the left side of his chest…letting him experience the vileness of heartbreak. Tears gathered in his eyes…but he was so unfortunate that he didn't have the right to shed those as well. Suddenly within a minute he felt helpless…way too helpless as if he didn't even have the energy to stand on his own feet. His whole body started becoming numb…while with each passing minute it started getting difficult for him to take breaths. Some invisible hand seemed to strangle him…trying to choke him to death without any mercy. It was all so cruel…so hard to even accept! But maybe it was how you feel watching your beloved to become someone else's…that too in front of your own eyes! After all, it was the reality...the harsh reality at that.
