Cold War

Diaan wiped away the tear that escaped his eyes. He was always an emotional person. His heart would always wail looking at someone else in pain. And here…it was not just some random somebody. Instead we are talking about the person who had his whole heart. How could he not feel her pain? His heart wept in silence…she had to go through so much…so much more than anyone could ever imagine! No-one deserved it! Nobody should ever go through the pain…she had gone through or maybe still going through.
"Wh…what about your Bhaijaan? Did….did he really lost his life?"gulping the huge dried lump inside his throat, Diaan asked her the question…he didn't even know whether he should ask her or not!
Once again silence prevailed in the room. And he got his answer as well. If his heart was heavier before then he didn't know how to define the current condition of his inner soul right now? With each passing moment, Diaan was feeling as if her painful past was choking him alive…burning him in the invisible fires of anguish. Do all people out there feel this way only when they see their beloved in pain?
With that Diaan realized another thing, the very next instant…he certainly should have never framed such a question. And he regretted it badly…way too badly. "I'm sorry for hurting you with my stupid question. I didn't mean it that way Fay. I was"before Diaan could complete his sentence, the door of his cabin bursted open…startling the both of them. Both looked towards the door of his cabin….a tensed looking man was seen standing at the doorstep.
"Hey, who are you? Don't you know there is a basic courtesy of entering inside someone's cabin?"Diaan stood up, marching towards the handsome man who was standing in his own glory. The stubble beard on his face only gave him a kind of different royalty. His eyes were sharp…as if those orbs had the power to read the other person just by looking.
"Moreover, my visiting hours are over for now. Please contact my PA for an appointment for tomorrow. And if it's too urgent then let me refer you to some of my other colleagues,"although Diaan was a bit intimidated as to how that other man looked at him. Yet, as a doctor patients were always the first priority for Diaan. And Diaan Scarlet never compromised when it came to life.
"I don't need anything from you, kid,"for the first time in all this while that man opened his mouth…making Diaan to scrunch up his eyebrows in confusion and in dislike as well. He definitely was not a kid! Was that man a blind or something? How could he refer to him…Diaan, the strong and stout man of 25 years old…a kid? Like seriously?
"I'm not a kid,"Diaan declared, not liking this man…at the first instant. Okay, maybe not at the first moment…but yeah, at the first talk for sure. Instead of saying something, that man just rolled his eyes at Diaan. What? Why would someone roll their eyes at Diaan? What did he even say to get treated like this? The innocent heart of that innocent 25 year old man…hurt at the ignorance of a stranger. Guess! It was the perks of being a social bee!
"If you are not here…looking for me, then why did you come to the cabin of a doctor?"But Diaan didn't lose his cool. He indeed was one of the most patient men one could ever imagine. "For her,"that man pointed his index at the side of Diaan…where Fayza was standing with a bored look on her face. Diaan's brows creased in confusion on their own…he knew her? How? Who was he? The questions arose in Diaan's mind.
"Fay, let's go…we need to talk,"that man said…more like ordered her. But Fayza seemed less bothered about his presence. She rolled her eyes at him…the same way he did with Diaan awhile ago. Diaan could not help but smirk as the unknown man got the taste of his own medicine. "Di, let's go from here. I don't have all day to waste it on some stranger. Time is precious for me…unlike some people who could never value it till they had that in hand,"Fayza held Diaan's hand…leaving the cabin was her only motive now.
Although Diaan knew it very well that Fayza was familiar…way too familiar with the stranger. Too many questions knocked his head at once…yet Diaan chose to stay quiet…it seemed the right thing to do at this point. He silently started following her.
They barely crossed that man, when Diaan felt a muscular hand grabbing his other one. Fayza also stopped when she felt a tug from behind her, she didn't need to look back to understand why Diaan stopped suddenly. "Leave him. I already told you a several times that we are past the phase of talking,"Fayza turned around, looking at the man…straight into his eyes. Her eyes as sharp as a knife….as if daggers would start showering upon the unknown man anytime soon.
"But I'm not done with you yet, Fay. You cannot show me your back every single time. This isn't how you solve problems,"that stranger tried to reason with Fayza. Fayza looked at him in…utter disbelief. Was he kidding? Yeah, he must be!
But before any of them could speak any further, Diaan butted in. "Look bro, I don't know you. I know you know her. But if she said she doesn't want to talk…then it means a no. And you got to respect her. So, kindly stop bothering her and go away. Otherwise I would not sit back from taking actions against you as well,"Diaan kind of threatened that man. After all, why not? Diaan had enough of this back and forth game.
Whoever that man was..but he could not just barge into Fayza's life…without her permission. No! Not as long as Diaan was there. Fayza could not help but look at this guy in front of her, with so many emotions playing in her heart at once. But most of all, warmth was the only emotion that was prominent there. He didn't even know her well…to take a stand for her in front a total stranger…who could be anybody!
"I don't need anyone else's permission to talk with my own little sister,"that man sneered…taking Diaan totally off-guard. "Little sister?"Diaan wishpered…not sure whether he heard it right or not! "Yes, she is my…."
"Stop calling me that. I'm no-one to you…in the same way you are no-one to me,"Fayza glared at the man…whose eyes swirled with the emotion called 'Hurt'. Who would not be…if they encountered such a situation in their life? "Fay, I'm your Bhaijaan. Yo…your Zeeshan Bhaijaan,"the stranger aka Zeeshan's words were barely audible. Well, thanks to the pin drop silence in the room…for which both Diaan and Fayza heard it. And Diaan would not lie that he was not shocked with this sudden revelation. Zeeshan was alive…safe and sound!
But there Fayza started laughing…it was a dark laugh as dark as a night,"Bhaijaan? Sorry? Did I hear it right or just my ears were ringing? If you don't know…then for your kind information, my Bhaijaan left this world with my Api. The day I lost my Api was the day I lost my Bhaijaan as well. He never really returned from that damn of a battlefield for me…like he had promised me. I kept on waiting and waiting for him…but he? He never returned…not at least when I was scattered into shreds!"Zeeshan closed his eyes…not being able to digest the hurtful words thrown at him…by his younger sister who once was ready to fight for him against the entire world.
"You were not there…when I needed you the most. When my Api needed you the most. So, don't you dare come to me now…claiming to be my Bhaijaan. You are just the ideal son of that bastard of a man named Abu Tariq. Go back to him…and kindly rule your kingdom Sultan Zeeshan Toufiqur Bin Tariq…after all, that's what you are good at doing, right? Everything was for that reason only! Me or my Api don't need you. You are no Bhaijaan to us,"But Fayza had no intention to stop today. It's as if she had been harboring a year's age hatred towards her own brother.
"Fay? Was everything that easy for you to say? Are you the only one who is in pain? Am I not suffering too?"Zeeshan's voice seemed helpless…pleading for Fayza to hear him out…at least once.
"Suffering? Huh! Do you even know the meaning of that word?"Fayza taunted him…not even caring how her words were affecting him. But why should she care now? Did he care for her…when she was in the dearth of that? Did he stand beside her…when she needed a shoulder to rely on? No, he didn't. Then why should she behave in the contrary? "Shahriar Bhai says it right you are the most selfish human beings in the world. You never loved any of us. All you loved till date was that estate…and the supremacy,"she spatted furiously yet again.
"Fayza, please calm down. You don't even realize what you are saying,"Diaan tried to make her understand that her anger was going to take her nowhere…nowhere good at least. "I know that, Diaan. Trust me…I know that way more better than anyone else. Sometimes I thank Allah for taking away Api beforehand…at least she didn't have to see this changed version of yours. Otherwise she would have died a thousand deaths knowing that the man she would never get tired of calling Bhaijaan time and again…never actually loved her ever. She was never the Jaan of her Bhaijaan. Which that crazy girl could not even understand,"these words ignited a ferocious anger inside Zeeshan who almost roared at Fayza.
"That's enough. Not a word more regarding Zohi. If you don't consider me your Bhaijaan it's okay. But don't you dare speak against my bond with Zohi. She was my Jaan, she is my Jaan and she will always be my Jaan. And about selfishness? Indeed what Shahriar says it absolutely correct…I'm actually the most selfish human being alive on this planet. I can do anything to get what I want. Hence, I would not stop until I reach my selfish goals…and for that even if I have to stay alone forever still I don't care,"with that saying, Zeeshan stormed out of that room…leaving a devastated Fayza…and a shocked Diaan behind.
The cold war between the siblings started yet again!

In the same hospital, inside Azel's cabin,
"Please take me home. I don't like it here. The…the hospital…it stinks,"Azel scrounged her nose in disgust….ranting the same line for the umpteenth time. "I said no. No discharge…till you get completely fine,"Rehan shook his head…totally declining her requests.
"See I'm absolutely fine now,"Azel spread her arms, leaning her face in front of him..for him to get a better view of her. But instead it made things difficult for Rehan…whose breath hitched at their sudden…too close proximity. His eyes dilated while his breathing strained as to how her minty breath was caressing his face…numbing all his sober senses. She blinked her doey oceanic orbs quite a few times…looking way too cute like an innocent child while making the same request in a new manner,"Please Re, I will get more sick…if I stay here,"Azel showed him her puppy eyes. Hoping this would work at least.
Rehan covered her mouth with his right hand…shoving her backwards as he started coughing, feeling embarrassed at his own hormones. Why was he becoming this shameless nowadays? His thoughts were too corrupted for this innocent crazy butterfly of his! But what was his fault after all? Why was she this cute? One day this girl would be the death of him! He knew that for sure. Still maybe it would be the first death in history…that the victim was ready on his one feet to get slaughtered.
"What?"Azel removed his hand over her face, throwing a nasty glare his way. Sometimes she really would not understand as to why this boy behave so strangely! "Nothing, you…you should take rest. Yeah, you should just go to sleep,"saying that, Rehan held her hand…pulling her body in his arms…while pressing her head in his chest. He started caressing her back as if trying to put a three year old to sleep. Azel felt his actions way too funny…this guy was really crazy! But she chose not to disturb the beautiful moment he had created in between them. Rather she snaked her arms around his torso, snuggling her face in his chest more. The serene peace evolving around her…while the rhythmic beats of his heart filled the void of melodious music in the environment. She closed her eyes to feel this beautiful moment more precisely.
In no minute, she fell asleep as well. There a sweet smile etched at the corner of his lips, looking at the small human being who was merged in his arms like a small cat. "I love you, my Cat baby,"he pressed a warm kiss at the crown of her head…while holding her in his chest as carefully as his most precious treasure.
