"Well maybe I don't want to be his fucking best friend!" Mike spat, and Will felt like someone had punched him in the throat.
Will felt a lump form in his throat, and his eyes began to sting.
"W-Wait I didn't-" Mike began.
"Get the fuck away from us Mike." Lucas warned, and Mike looked at Will.
His lips where trembling and his eyes were glossy with tears.
"Will I didn't mean it." Mike tried, but Will was pulled into a hug by Max.
"You heard Lucas. Get the fuck away from us." She warned, putting her hand on Will's head.
"Fine." Mike slammed his hands on the table, getting up and walking away.
Eleven stayed sat down, frowning at the sight of Will hugging Max, trying his best not to cry.
"Will.. Don't cry. I talk to Mike." Eleven tried, but Will shook his head.
"I-It's okay.. You don't need-" Was all Will could say, before he burst into tears.
"Will, don't cry." Max frowned, rubbing his back gently.
"I-Im sorry." Will whispered.
"What did I say. No more sorries." Max warned, wagging her finger to imitate his mum.
Will giggled slightly, and Max smiled.
"Dont let him ruin your day, if he doesn't want to be your best friend then fuck him! It's his loss!" Max announced, and Will looked up at her.
"Max.." He whispered, and she sighed.
"I know, I know." She muttered.
"Will, I go and tell Mike off." Eleven told him, and Will immediately shot up.
"No, no I promise it's okay!" He tried, but eleven wouldn't listen.
"No. He made you sad, I yell at him. I will be back!" She announced, and she sped off before anybody could protest.
"He's gonna be more mad at me now." Will groaned, putting his head in his hands.
"Orr he'll realize how much of a douche he is and apologize!" Dustin grinned, and Will smiled slightly.
"I-I don't know. I don't think he will." Will sighed, and his crying began to quieten down a bit.
"I don't understand what I did wrong?" Will whispered, and Max sighed.
"You didn't do anything wrong, he's just a dick." Lucas scoffed, and Will shook his head.
"No, I must've done something." He muttered to himself.
Max opened her mouth to say something, but the bell rang before she could speak.
"I'll see you after your last few classes?" Max looked at Will, who was getting ready to leave.
"Yeah, I'll meet you by the bike racks." Will gave her a weak smile, before walking off.
He walked along to his locker, putting away his books and grabbing his history book.
"Aw, has the baby been crying?" He heard Troy snicker.
Will froze, and Troy began to mock him.
"Where is your boyfriend frog face? Did you two break up?" He grinned, and James started laughing.
"He's not my boyfriend." Will shut his locker.
"Don't fucking talk back to me? Who do you think you are?" Troy tried to act tough by pinning Will against the locker.
"What are you gonna do? Kiss me?" Will scoffed.
"What!? Ew gross!" Troy jumped back, before walking away with James, throwing some slurs at Will as they walked away.
That's what I thought.. - Will sighed, and began to walk to history.
As he was walking, he felt his stomach growl and he felt a pang of hunger. He grimaced a bit, but carried on walking.
He recognized what was happening, he hasn't eaten in days and if he didn't eat he would faint. Or throw up. And he didn't exactly want either of them, but he didn't want to eat either.
He pushed open the door to History, walking over to his desk.
He stopped in his tracks when he saw an angry Mike sat down. He had forgotten that in almost every class he's sat next to Mike.
He re-gathered himself, and walked over to his desk, sitting down.
He heard his stomach grumble again, and out of the corner of his eye he saw Mike's head turn to face him.
"Have you eaten today?" Mike asked him.
"Why would you care." Will whispered.
"I care because I am your best friend-.." Mike trailed off, remembering what he had said at lunch.
Will hummed, and Mike began to rummage in his bag for something.
He pulled out a chocolate bar and slammed it in front of Will.
"Eat it, you clearly haven't eaten all day." Mike demanded, and Will groaned.
"I'm not hungry." He tried, but his stomach gave him away by letting out a large growl.
Mike raised his eyebrows at Will, and he took the bar and began to unwrap it.
"I don't even want it. Why are you giving it to me?" Will mumbled, taking a tiny bite.
"Eat more then that! Jesus." Mike scoffed, feeling himself getting angry.
"Sorry." Will whispered, taking a little bit more.
Mike rolled his eyes and turned the other way, making Will upset.
He ate a tiny bit more before wrapping it up and giving it back to Mike, with a tiny piece of paper with the words"
"Sorry ☹︎"
Mike looked down at the paper and instantly felt bad, but didn't say anything and tucked the chocolate bar away in his pocket.
They both sat in silence for the rest of the lesson, not daring to say another word.
