Eugene's POV
~~~
I stood as my hands parted from Ariel's hair.
"Is there anything else that is upsetting you?" I asked, watching Ariel's flushed face.
She was quiet.
Hm. Most humans have many questions after they turn.
She faced me, gazing into my eyes.
Her stare was fierce compared to other humans.
"Thank you... Eugene," her voice was strained.
Ah, I need to give her more time to adjust to this new life.
"Then I will see you soon," I headed towards the door. "Please cooperate with Maya as she dresses you."
I watched Ariel nod, then I briskly left towards the staircase and into my office.
There were papers piling up that I had to attend to, but I sat by the desk pondering about what I've done so far.
To think that I would turn a human... I'll have to treasure her.
I do not wish to lose another loved one again.
Memories of the fire washed me with grief.
My family was engulfed in flames except me, the lone survivor.
"Master Heliosinclaire," Lucius entered with large vials of blood, "your dinner."
"Thank you, Lucius. What do you think of Ariel?"
Lucius placed the vials on my desk, "she's a feisty one."
I chuckled, "and strong-willed." I arranged the papers by the side and picked up a vial. The burgundy color was reflected by the light. "Do you suppose that what I've done was wrong?"
"My Lord?"
"Turning her into one of us..."
"I do not question your actions, My Lord," Lucius bowed deeply.
I smiled and drank a bit from the vial, remembering the taste of Ariel's blood. Hers was tart. I wonder what it tastes like now after she consumed some of mine.
I motioned Lucius to leave and resumed to my papers, listening to the clock as it ticked away.
