Ariel's POV
~~~
Three days had passed and I was getting ready to visit the Tristans for their tea party or event or whatever it was.
"I didn't know vampires drank tea," I said as we both got on the carriage. Lucius was with us as well.
"You'll be drinking blood, sugar cube."
Blood?
I cringed as I thought about how vampires referred to drinking blood as tea.
We drove towards the Tristan estate. I watched the forest wiz past us and noticed a peculiar scent of blood.
It was similar to the scent I noticed during the soiree.
Frey motioned his hand for me to remain in my seat, "don't move."
The atmosphere was tense until the horses bellowed and had the carriage crash into a boulder. I hit my head on the ceiling.
"Stay here!" Frey shouted as he bolted out of the carriage. I could hear him shouting out Lucius' name.
Everything was spinning around me. I couldn't concentrate that well as the familiar scent of blood permeated the air.
Then, as I peered to my side, I saw him.
A man most sinister piercing into Frey's chest with his hand, throwing him to the ground as blood splattered everywhere.
Lucius attempted to attack the man but was stopped in his tracks, frozen.
"A human," the man muttered with his low husky voice.
He raised his hand and motioned it in the air as Lucius contorted his whole body, writhing in pain. He fell to the ground, body limp.
I gasped, trembling in fear as the man approached the carriage.
He had horribly pallid skin covered by his long black hair, his eyes illuminating the color of blood as it gazed in my direction.
Just as he took a step in my direction, the stone necklace that Eugene had given me began to glow.
The man was petrified as he stared at the faint glow of my stone.
We both froze in silence as I could hear Frey gasping for air as his blood bubbled from his wound.
Then, the man stepped back and faded away in the forest's darkness.
I bolted out of the carriage, grabbing Frey's clothing and undressed him. The wound in his chest was deep and the blood wouldn't stop flowing.
How do I stop the bleeding?
Does he need my blood?
Eugene's wounds healed quickly compared to Frey's.
My blood should help.
I took Frey's dagger and cut open my arm, the blood trickling down my skin.
"Frey, please. Drink some of my blood, it may help."
He gaped towards my cut, "sugar cube..."
He was losing consciousness.
I tried to suck in some of my blood, but the wound had closed, so I pierced my arm with his dagger again.
I sucked in some blood and tried to open Frey's mouth.
The blood from my mouth slowly trickled into his.
Please let this work.
His eyes opened slowly as he grabbed my wrist, "Ariel. Let me bite into it"
I nodded and let his fangs dig into my arm. I could feel my blood draining into his mouth. It didn't feel pleasant, but it seemed to make Frey feel better. His wound was beginning to close as well.
He kept swallowing my blood as his eyes grew even redder.
"Frey—"
I tried to push him away, but he kept biting into my arm, engulfing what little blood I had.
"Frey!" I pushed his face away from my body, but he persisted on biting into my arm, draining my blood.
I fell to the ground as I watched him hover above me in a trance.
He tried to bite into my neck, but the stone glowed once more, pushing him away from me.
I blacked out.
