Ariel's POV
~~~
This dress is TIGHT.
Maya fitted me with an ivory white dress with frills on the sides. The ribbon in the back complimented the design.
"Now remember, my lady. You must hold yourself with dignity as you are now a Heliosinclaire," she walked around me to make sure that the gown was perfect.
As I held my arms up, I noticed a few carriages arriving outside of the window. There were several.
"Is Eugene a famous vampire?" I asked.
"Famous?! He is known as the progenitor of all of the vampires! The father of the purebloods!" Maya tightened the dress even more.
The progenitor. He has got to be super old then.
"He looks very young though," I squirmed. "Um, isn't this a bit too tight?"
"Not at all! All the lovely ladies of the court are as thin as this."
"You should loosen it up a bit, Maya," Frey stood by the door, smiling with his arms crossed, "we wouldn't want her to pass out in front of all those people."
Maya shot towards Frey, "and YOU should stay outside of a LADY'S chambers." She pushed Frey away and slammed the door shut, "my word! The audacity of that man! I do wonder why the Master decided to hire someone such as him."
I sneakily loosened the dress and let my hair fall on my back. Maya insisted that I tie it up to make it look more elegant, but I didn't want any vampires attempting to bite into my neck. I heard that Heliosinclaires had delicious blood, and now that I am one of them...
"Maya," I looked out the window, noticing more carriages arriving to the estate, "why are Eugene's eyes blue? I thought vampires had red eyes."
Maya shuffled awkwardly, "that I am not sure of. And usually when vampires turn a human, the human gains red eyes, but you did not. Maybe the Master's blue eyes are reflected in his blood." She searched for something in the dresser, "I apologize for the inadequate answer, my lady."
She pulled out a jewelry box, dazzled with emeralds. It was beautiful.
"This belonged to one of the daughters of the Master's family. I'm sure he'd be delighted to let you adorn one of these fine jewels."
Maya carefully placed a light blue diamond necklace around my neck, clipping it together.
"There! You look lovely, my lady," she beamed.
I looked at the mirror. To my surprise, I did look as lovely as she stated.
The dress and necklace complimented my eyes.
Although I was dressed beautifully with elegant clothes, I felt a bit sad.
I'm entering vampire society now...
So many things have happened. I was thrown into his scenario without any warning.
I gripped the dress tight, trying to hold all my emotions together.
The door opened as Frey knocked on the wall, "excuse me, but I am to be the lady's guard during this event." He smirked and strutted in.
"Don't you dare touch her, Frey" Maya glared.
Frey stepped back with hands in the air, "of course of course. The head maid wishes to see you, Maya. You better make on your way."
Maya glared at Frey for the longest time then left the room.
"Lady Ariel." I could hear his voice creep closer. "You look very beautiful this evening."
I watched Frey step closer and noticed that the wound on the side of his head still did not heal.
"Um..." I scratched my ear, "sorry..."
"Pardon?" Frey stood still. We were just a few feet away.
"For shooting you with my pistol."
Frey's eyes widened, and he started laughing, "There's no need to apologize!" He suddenly appeared before me, "you were just trying to run away at the time." He brushed his fingers against my cheek, "and I couldn't help myself." I glared at him.
"Mmmm, quite feisty aren't you, my lady?" He stepped back and looked out the window, "that fierce look in your eyes will get you in trouble during the event, though. Try not to embarrass yourself."
With a chuckle, Frey opened the door and waved towards the hallway, "shall we, my lady?"
I held onto my dress and exited the chamber.
The hallways had pictures of a family with the same glass blue eyes as mine. There were many.
I could hear the mumbles and whispers of voices nearby.
We walked into a ballroom filled with vampires.
They all stared at me.
