(Y/N)'s POV

4 years later.....

I am now 12 years old. Things have changed in the past four years.

After I was released from the hospital. I was originally supposed to be sent into foster care, but instead, a man known as Roy Mustang took me in. I never why he did, but it was along the lines of "Such a poor soul like you shouldn't be living in such a cruel world like this."

Even through the times I was with him, I was emotionally broken. I wouldn't talk to anyone, I wouldn't even spare anyone a glance. I was almost like a doll in an emotional-less shell.

One day, I saw him practicing alchemy. This sparked my interest a bit, since I was slightly skilled in alchemy myself. I only learned a bit of ice alchemy from my father, before I picked learning on controlling the water wavelengths between the fingernails. Freezing and heating it.

He took me on as his apprentice, showing me other basics in alchemy. Besides the fact we have opposite elemental alchemy, he was a great mentor.

When I got the age, the age I'm at now, Mustang agreed to let me live on my own in a apartment of my own. The military helped provide everything I needed. Ever since then, I've been working tons of job to pay for food and clothing.

I've also been taking medicine from the condition of my missing insides, and I also got a prosthesis left arm as well. Even in Central, auto-mail and regular prosthetics are very pricy, but I was lucky enough to pay for another one from some extra food money I had.

Mustang always insists on helping me get an auto-mail arm but I always turn down his offer.

Everyday, I visit my brother and my father everyday at the graveyard, and not a day goes by that I think of them as I cry myself to sleep.

"Ah!, Hello Ms. (L/N)."

'Speak of the devil' I turn around and give Mustang a small smile. Even though we've known each other for a long time, he and I still call each other out, formally.

"Hello Mustang. How are you?" I asked politely

"I've been better, how about you? You've been doing well."

I looked a bit taken back, but then I cover it up with another smile.

"O-of course...everything is going well." I said.

Roy suddenly gives me a concerned look, knowing that my words were lies. I was still broken, but I didn't want people to be worried about me, so I move on everyday with a smile on my face.

"So, where are you headed?" He asked.

"Well, I just finished my shopping for the day. I was finally able to afford another arm, since the one I have now needs a few repairs"

"Well, you know, you could always get an auto-mail arm, if you want, I can-"

I cut him off "Oh no, it's okay. Besides, you already do enough for me as it is. Providing me with auto-mail would just be too much." I said.

He looks at me in shock, then his mouth curved into a soft smile.

"Well, alright. But remember, if you ever need anything, just give me or Hughes a call, you know will always be there for you, right?"

I nodded.

"Well, I better head back to headquarters, I have some very important things I have to do, you have a good day, Ms. (L/N)"

"Mmm Hmm, you too Mustang!" I said as I waved goodbye, heading back to my apartment.

Just after I walked around the corner, I heard small crying nearby the fruit stand. As the sidewalk cleared up, I saw a little girl, on her knees with her hands to her face. I quickly dropped my things, and ran over to her.
