Chapter 18: Partners and Automail

Ed's P.O.V.

  "On one condition, you say?" Mustang said.

The next day, (Y/N) took me to Headquarters so I could retrieve my state alchemist title and watch.

"I'll obey all your orders, sir. But as long as I serve I'd like to receive all information on the Philosopher stone." I said. Mustang turned in his chair, and rested his chin on his intertwined fingers.

"And then whenever I finished all my other duties, you have to permit me to search for it."

"People will question you motives. You realise what will happens if the State learns about your human transmutation. Al will be hauled off to some lab as a precious sample."

I gulped a bit, hating the thought of my brother being somebody's lab dog.

"Well, I can keep that in my back pocket to make sure you behave."

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

I glanced at Ed from the corner of my eye. He looked so worn out it wasn't even funny.  He really wants this...bad.

"Fine." Mustang said. "But you report to me everything you uncover about the philosopher stone. Oh! and I almost forgot. You two have been issued to your official states titles by the Fuhrer. It's quite ironic actually, he's got a good sense of humor."

Mustang handed both of us folders and tossed Ed his watch. I stared at the folder before opening it. Pulling out the letter from inside.

We give the name "Aqua" to thy (Y/N) (L/N) in the name of Fuhrer King Bradley. Pale white and black with false citrine, imperfect white and red. The peacock's feathers in bright colours... and so on, so forth.

"We give the name "Full metal/Aqua" to thy Edward Elric/(Y/N) (L/N)...in the name of Fuhrer King Bradley..." Edward and I said at the same time, making us look at each other. I felt a small blush crawl up my cheeks. I even saw a small shad of pink on his cheeks as well. Edward shook his head, before looking back at Roy.

"Fullmetal?" Ed asked

"Along with the pocket watch,  everyone of us is a sign to symbolic second name. Depending on your talents. Yours is "Fullmetal", and (Y/N)'s is "Aqua". " He paused and turned towards us fully.

"The Fullmetal and Aqua Alchemist."

I kept a straight face, until I heard Ed speak.

"Sounds heavy. I'll try not to let it wear me down."

I looked at him, before I smirk and looked back at Roy.

"Well, I have to say, the Fuhrer has a great taste in names. I'll make sure the same."

Mustang looked shocked for a moment, before regaining his posture.

"Well, I'm glad to hear it. Because the Fuhrer had officially claimed you two as partners. From this moment forward, you two including Al work together. Whether you like it or not."

I was completely shocked, but kept a straight face. Partners? I mean, that sounds great and all, but finding the stone is more of his priority. Plus, I'd probably just be dead weight.

"You are both dismissed."

*TIME SKIP*

"To Celebrate, you're going to buy me all kinds of neat things I can't get back home, right?" Winry said, making me sweatdrop a little.

"I think you got it backwards there." Edward said.

"I forget, who fixed up your arm?" Winry smirk, but then grew sad. She ran ahead of us, and I ran to catch up with her.
