I was called into Walden's office when I left the bathroom. I was confused but shook it off as everybody looked at me strangely. I was in there for quite some time so I think that's why they were confused. Wally sat down in his chair, having his usual boring face on, like a mask. "Uh— Mr. Darling? You wanted to speak to me?" I asked, closing the door softly before walking over to his desk.
"Sit down, assistant." I gulped. What have I gotten myself into now? Did he see me cry? That was impossible, I barely got any tears out talking to him. I needed to look professional. I sat down after a little while of me thinking, the chair squeaking slightly. "What's wrong, sir?" I asked, looking over at him. "Y/n, I'm sorry."
Oh.
I tilt my head. "Mr. Darling—"
"I was told by Poppy she saw you running into the bathroom after I yelled at you, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry at all. I was just angry that you didn't fill in those reports yet, those were important." he explained. He was sorry? I shake my head out of thought. "N-no, you don't need to be sorry, sir. I wasn't crying, why would somebody my age cry over something so soft? I'm not that sensitive, sir!" I pretend chuckle. "I saw you on the cameras before you ran into the bathroom, you're not hiding anything from me, Y/n." he said sternly.
I closed my mouth. "Uh— okay, I accept your apology, Mr. Darling." I smiled softly. He nodded slowly at my words. "You're dismissed." he went back to his paperwork. Before I could stand up and leave his office, I thought of something. What I saw in the grinder, what Julie told me about the past assistants, should I bring that up now? I feel like at a time like this, perfect moment to basically share some feelings with my boss, no, it wouldn't. But I need to say it now or never.
I turned around slowly. "Sir, there's something I need to get my mind off of." I sat back down in the seat. He looked up from his paperwork at me. "What? Right now? I'm a bit busy, I don't have time for whatever you have next to tell me." he said sternly once again. "Yes, it's urgent. It happened yesterday, at the grinder station." he widen his eyes once I said anything about the grinder.
"Did someone fall in?" he asked. "No, well— I think so." I admit, talking about the man. "Who was it? If it's just a employee, I don't really mind. I don't care that much about my employees." he looked back down in his paperwork. I raise an eyebrow. "What? Seriously? Not even like, enough if they died?" I asked. I was pretty surprised by this, something he didn't need to share, but if it was a connection and getting closer to my own boss, I guess I should peep in to hear his real thoughts of his employees.
"Does it matter? I don't cherish them enough to even care one bit if they were turned into Spectra." he said. I gulped. His eyes looked up at me. "I would cherish you if you fell into the grinder, though." he said, his eyes traveling back to his papers.
I blush. Those words just made me feel butterflies for some reason. Why would he want to save me? Someone that usually doesn't feel these type of things so very often, but here I am wondering how he made me feel this way. "Oh— thank you." I cleared my throat after some thought. "So, you were saying about somebody falling in?" he asked. I raised an eyebrow at his response. I didn't even remember what I was speaking about, rambling off about something I couldn't remember at the moment. "Forget it, it doesn't matter right now." I say, not like I could remember anymore. My mind is focused on him.
