Death is the veil which those who live call life; They sleep, and it is lifted.
———————————————————————
If sunlight was a person, it wouldn't be joyful or such. At least not when I'm around.
If there's anything more that I could hate has to be probably almost six or five in the morning sunlight streams from my curtains into my dark room, that was dark.
I put on my chosen clothing and head outside of my home. I'm actually pretty surprised on how well it turned out. I smile at my work and turn back to my vehicle.
———————————————————————
I enter the factory with a smile on my face. There's a bunch of workers already, but the factory is still closed, probably workers that need to be helping out with the pipe system downstairs. I've never been downstairs before, so this is exciting for me.
"Hey! Wasn't expecting to see you around here." I turn my head around with an confused expression. Though, the voice didn't sound too familiar to me. A caterpillar, at least seven feet maybe. He was green, with large wings, carrying a box. "Oh, erm— hello." I reply, looking up at him. He chuckles. "So, who do you work for here? Walden?" he asks raising a eyebrow.
"I'm an assistant." I answer truthfully. "Ah! Yeah, thought so. Haven't seen many of you guys—" he clears his throat and shakes his head. He brings his gaze back to me. "I didn't know he hired somebody new." he corrects himself. "I heard that one before." I admit. I still have to wonder what happened. I still think he probably just fired the old assistants like Julie had told me, but yet I'm still suspicious why nobody has told me the truth.
"I'm Howdy, if you were wondering at all." Howdy answers. "Interesting name." I say. Didn't know greetings could be names in whatever universe we're in at the moment. He chuckles softly at my response. "As weird as this may sound, I must say you aren't from..?" Howdy raises an eyebrow. Here we go again.
"Sally's Instagram? Yeah, that's over and done with." I sigh loudly. "Oh, yes, I truly apologize for the bad introduction, I'm just trying to understand the whole situation. Just heard about it today." he admits. "Today? I didn't know people were still talking about that." I raise an eyebrow. "Well— I won't go far into detail," he continues anyways. "But Sally seems to be all over the place about it." Howdy explained. "I'm not that surprised." I say. "I'll check in with her." I smile, nodding my head at the caterpillar. He smiles back. "Very well, see you around, neighbor." he travels off into the hallway.
I make my way over into Sally's office, where she was sitting ruffling some papers. She smiled when she saw me opening her door. "Y/n! Fancy seeing you around here," she chuckles and taps her desk. I storm in, letting the door close behind me. "Sally, I thought we were finished about the social media problem." I say. "Social medi— OH! Yes, I believe we are. What's the problem? Do you want to talk about it~?" she smirks. "No! Well, yes! But in a different way." I continue.
"I met Howdy today and he said you were rambling off about it. Care to explain?" I ask. She widens her eyes in surprise. "What? I would never betray my own best friend. Trust me, I wouldn't talk about something that's over date in centuries." she scoffs rolling her eyes. "Well, since you seem to love stalking people, I'm a bit curious now that you mentioned that problem to Howdy." I smirk. "I do have one question. How did you know I was getting into Walden's car?" I raise an eyebrow while resting my hand on my chin. "First of all, I don't love stalking people! Second of all, I was.. taking out the trash." she lies obviously.
"For what reason? It was after work hours."
"My own reason! I just love doing good deeds. Maybe it was just a coincidence!" strange. I thought it was a coincidence myself when I lost my keys after I finished talking. It's silent. There's no noise. Just us staring at each other as if we're doing an staring contest. "Okay fine, my Insta has been lacking lately— at least before that." she slops in her chair, crossing her arms without making eye contact with me. "So stealing my keys and making false assumptions— would you even called that a assumption? Who knows." I shrug."Still wrong, and I'm glad I found out it was somebody who stole my keys." I say pointing the finger at her. She scoffs. "Now, is that the only thing you came in here for?" she asks, turning her gaze to me, but her head couldn't stand a chance. "Just trying to figure out if your my real friend or not." I admit, crossing my arms over my chest. I gave her a stern look in response.
"Okay, I'm sorry, I really am. Stealing your keys— or, maybe not the best way— I understand what I did wrong. Can you blame me?" she said, stepping up from her chair. "Yes."
"You were suppose to say no." she stated. "Forgive me?"
"No." it's silent just like it was a few minutes ago. We hear screaming outside of the office my head snaps back to the door and I run out to find the screams. Sally comes with me, even though I didn't want her to be near me, I still had to worry about what was happening. Everybody was running to the grinder room.Oh no.
I raced into the grinder room before anybody could get there before me. I run up the stairs where I can see the rest of the grinder, also bumping into Walden. I look up at him as he's in a state of shock. "Sir—" he walks away without even making eye contact with me. I turn back to the grinder and look around.
Poppy.
I gasp, covering my mouth with my two hands, and begin to cry silently.
She was shredded into pieces in front of my eyes. I sob, falling down to the ground without catching myself. Who could've done this? Someone Poppy despises? Poppy loves everyone. It had to be someone I haven't met at least to my advantage. Yet, I still can't keep myself up from the floor. I was determined to figure out who did this. I stood up without looking back at the grinder. I make myself over to Wally looking up at him while he talks to a worker. I guess we're both determined.
"What do you mean she fell—"
"Mr. darling?" I say. He turns around, but I don't think he cared enough to notice
I was crying, maybe he did. "Yes? What are you doing here?" he asks. "I want to know what happened." I sniffle. He stays silent and sighs. "Isn't it obvious?" he responded. "What's going to happen?" I ask. "Nothing. The factory will still remain open, for now, there's a lot to clear up." Really?I was surprised to hear that answer. Did he really not care enough for Poppy's death?
"But she died!"
"Everyone dies at the rainbow factory." he turned back to the worker. I was shocked. My eyebrows were both raised, and I almost began shaking. Why am I still working here.
