The saddest part of goodbye is watching you walk away without a second glance.

Chapter 17

Taehyung wanted to look representable but his face didn't look good at all. His eyes were swollen due to what happened earlier. He internally curses himself because he is embarrassed to go inside Min's company with his looks right now.

He is outside of the company, hesitating if he should go or not. But he doesn't want Mr. Min to think that he is backing off with his offer.

“What's the matter, Mr. Kim? Why are you just standing here?” He flinched when he heard a voice behind him.

He turned around and saw Yoongi right in front of him.

“I..uhhh...” Taehyung can't complete whatever he wants to say.

“Did something happen to you?” Yoongi asked him.

“Huh? Uhhh, nothing at all, Sir. I was just...” Taehyung doesn't know what excuse he should make.

“It's okay if you don't want to tell me, I won't force you. But we should definitely go inside to discuss your work.” Yoongi changed the topic because it was obvious that Taehyung was getting uncomfortable.

“Okay, Sir.” Taehyung faintly smiled.

They both went inside the company with employees greeting their CEO. It might not be obvious but some of them were whispering and murmuring about something or maybe about a certain someone. Taehyung couldn't his anxiety, it was not his first time going into the company but this was almost his first having a proper work.

He almost flinch when he felt a hand on his back. He glanced beside him and saw it was his boss, holding his back in a gentle manner.

“You're shaking,” Yoongi uttered as they went inside the elevator.

“I'm sorry, Sir, just getting used to it.” he forced a smile.

“You don't have to worry, rumors would end right away if no one ignite the fire. Besides, employees here were busy and it would just some of them will be interested in rumors. Just act normal and they would shut up immediately,”  Yoongi advised him.

“Tuh-thank you, Sir,” Taehyung was kind of relieved.

“Anyways, don't be so tense, I have an important person waiting for me. I don't want to fail her, she's not that related to me but she loves me as her real son.” Yoongi changed the topic.

“What do you mean, Sir? Who could be that per─”

When the elevator opened, Taehyung frozen in his place when realized what Yoongi just said.

“Taehyung, my dear, what are you doing here?” Jeonhwa asked her out of curiosity but also in confusion.

Taehyung couldn't open his mouth, he felt like he did something wrong to her. But it was not entirely his fault, right? It was Jungkook who lied to her.

“Oh, you knew my secretary, Eomma,” Yoongi spoke. “he's Kim Taehyung and he will be my new secretary, don't you think he will last long? He's from Daegu as well, I believed we will understand each other.” Yoongi enthusiastically said.

“Secretary? But why would you work, Taehyung?” there was a confusion in her tone. “You are the fiancé of Jungkook,” Jeonhwa added.

“Eomma, didn't you know? They broke up and I believed Jungkook even made him suffer. Can you believe that? I was disappointed.” Yoongi was the one who responding for Taehyung.

“I see...”

Taehyung couldn't look at her and keep avoiding her eyes. He was just fiddling his fingers while biting his bottom lip. He could feel her disappointment and betrayal.
