Chapter three:
[]CANIS ALATUS[]:
I woke up with a spine-cracking stretch, my arms and hands brushing the wall behind me.
Groaning, I sat up quickly, banging my forehead against the wooden bed above me.
"Ouch!" I grunted, loud enough to wake up my roommate. My hand intinctivley shot to my head, a light tingle filling my fingers as they began to stop the forming bruise.
"What the hell, Ira?" My roomate murmured, draping a long arm over the side of the bed and swatting the air as if reaching for me.
"Oh gods, I'm sorry Pyri, I didn't mean to." I apologised.
"It's fine." She paused, yawning. "What time is it?" Pyri muttered and drowsily rubbed her eyes.
"Uh, it's... about...5:10-ish," I glanced down at my watch. "So we should probably get up and get dressed if we are going to be ready to get our Spirit Dogs."
"I'll take the bathroom first, okay?" I stated, clearly making it not up for discussion.
"As if!" Pyri smirked, lurching out of her top bunk and rushing to the bathroom and locking the door so fast my eyes could barely track her.
"Oh come on! I called dibs!" I whined.
"Since when do I follow the rules of dibs?" She teased through the door. I could practically see her triumphant smirk, hands on her hips confidently. I sighed and slipped out of my warm, soft pyjamas to put on the uniform for my school, Lucerix. Being in a top-rated fighter school isn't excatly easy, but with help from all the technology here, and all the training, I've been able to do pretty well. Well, decently well. If I'm being honest, just good enough to not drop out or be expelled.
The uniform zips- automatically sizing itself to me, fitting all my curves perfectly. I tugged on a bomber jacket just as Pyri opened the bathroom door and sneered.
"It's all yours."
Giving her a fakeed frown and light playful shove, I smiled and clicked the bathroom door shut.
A little while after brushing my teeth and hair, and washing my face, I joined Pyri outside and we headed to breakfast in the Grand Dining Hall.
I wasn't able to eat much, seeing as my stomach was obnoxiously full of 'butterflies.'
So many thoughts had floated through my head.
'What if no dog chooses me?'
Stop. I mentally kicked myself. Stop thinking these things.
What if my dog doesn't like me? What if my dog doesn't listen, and I get in trouble?
As if she could read my mind, Pyri turned her attention to me and knocked on my head playfully.
"Anybody home?" She cracked an easy smile. "What are you thinking about?"
"I-uh. Just drifted off a bit, what were we talking about?" I said, smiling absent-mindedly.
"Oh nothing, just what breed might choose us," Pyri said sarcastically, knowing that's all I talk about. I sighed: "Husky...".
"Not to burst your bubble," She snickered, "But you don't exactly match such a high and mighty dog, Ira." Although I knew she was probably right, I chose to ignore her snarky comment, still envisioning me standing confidently beside a muscular black, white, and grey dog.
I practically drooled.
