Chapter Fourteen:
[]Kolonia[]
-A flash of blue. A tall, lean dog.
The grey and white canine had a blank and utterly serene look in its eyes, calmly staring over me.
Long caramel brown and teal curls fell well past my shoulders, tickling my lower back as the mop of hair swayed with the cool breeze.
Wait. My hair isn't blue. And my hair is short. I whirl around, confused and taking in the scenery. My eyes were met with a plethora of greys and different shades of blue.
Wow. I thought.
The scene was breathtaking.
Mountains splayed out around me, forming a perfect frame for a vibrant sunset.
I looked back, but the massive dog was gone.
The world started to swirl, and I was moving so fast it was hard to breathe in a flash.
I gazed down, at the large grey-and-white carrying me.
This was a strange dream. It was just a dream.
But it felt so real.
Like if I reached down I could feel the husky.
And I could.
It was soft, but its fur was surprisingly short.
Huh, this is weird.
It's not at all what I thought a dog would feel like.
A dog.
We never even talked about dogs, unless it was how to kill them.-
A thorny claw suddenly dug into my thigh, cutting off my thoughts.
I suppressed a screech, cracked open an eye, and looked down. A flash of tan, a delicately curved muzzle- and then nothing.
Was it just my imagination?
Am I going crazy?
Maybe it was a dream. Who knows.
For now, I'd have to stick with that.
I grumbled as I clumsily dragged myself out of bed, the dream melting away, my subconscious mind smothering the memory. But the husky's abnormal fur texture never left my mind.
A loud knock on my door startled me.
I pulled up my blanket, covering my very short pyjamas.
I stumbled to the door, tripping on the thick blanket.
"Hey," I called through the door.
"Uh-Hi." Someone grumbled outside.
I opened the door, only to find Mrs. Hansley.
She had a worried, or maybe angry, look on her face, contorting her pretty features.
"What do you need?" I said as politely as I could while still being mad at her, minding my tone and straining against my anger as I kept my voice mild and unconcerned.
"Uh. eh-hem, have you seen that grey cat? The little bugger ran off again." She rubbed the back of her neck nervously, then moved her hand up smoothly to brush her wild and abnormally greasy bangs out of her eyes.
"Nope. Haven't seen it since yesterday." What Mrs. Hansley said was strange. I thought she and that grey cat were bonded.
"Okay, let me know if you see her." She said, turning on her heel and abruptly striding off back down the hallway. Shutting my door, I listened to her high-heeled footsteps recede down the corridor.
"Wait," I said wondering if I had made the right decision by telling her to stop.
"I know where you can look."She arched an eyebrow.
"Someone's dorm." I went in front and led her where I wanted her to go, in the opposite direction of Cora's room. Knowing Cora always had that stupid little grey cat with her.
Once I was sure she was gone I activated my eye chip by swiping the air and double tapping. "Send a message to Cora." The projected screen beeped. I typed midair, it would look strange to others, but I was alone for now.
-Cor, Mrs. Hansley just stopped by my dorm looking for the cat from earlier. if she's with you, hide her and don't tell SH. something's off.-
I slid on my black-and-gold Gladius uniform and headed to breakfast. I smiled, glad Hansley was so nervous, relishing her bad mood. I picked up the pace down the same hallway Mrs Hansley had been mere moments before. I didn't want to be more late than Cora.
Even if she was rarely late.
