Zhi
He wiped the sleep from his eyes and was stretching and yawning. He reached back for Ace but didn't feel him. He set up and lifted the cover. Did he leave? Zhi hopped out of bed and searched his bathroom but nothing. He opens his door and ran downstairs but heard his mom laughing and Ace's voice. He rested against the wall. He slowly entered the living room. His mom smiled. "Hey son,"
"Hey ma, he hugged her."
His eyes landed on Ace's. "I thought you left."
"Not without saying goodbye, I wouldn't do that." He eyes expressed a seriousness.
His mom did a little smirk. "Should I give you two some alone time? Samson and I need to run to the store. Then we'll all go to the hospital together."
"Yeah, that would be good." Zhi took a seat on the other sofa. They gave them a few minutes to leave. Once the truck pulled out the driveway. Zhi exhaled.
"So," he started the conversation. "About what happened earlier."
Ace was just listening.
"Thank you for that." He fondles with the strings on his joggers.
"I guess you're welcome."
"Ace, can we just keep it a stack Bro?" Zhi looked at him.
"We can."
"I just feel like you didn't give me the chance to decide if I wanted to go there with you. You ain't even trust me enough to come to me, about you feeling that way."
"I know and I played that night over in my head a thousand times. If I could ever take anything back it would be that." Ace sounded sincere. "At the same time, you weren't exactly welcoming of me being that way."
"You my best friend." Zhi stared at the ground. "I accepted you in any way, I was just angry."
"You mine and I understand that."
"I don't like not talking to you, with other friends it's just different."
"Shit hurt me more than you'll ever know." Ace voice
lowered."How do we move forward? Like as friends or?" He sighed. "Or this?"
"In whatever way you need me, I'm here." Ace pushed his hair out his face.
"Why me? How did you go from seeing me like your boy to...I guess to like, your lover?"
"Lover? Ace smiled. "You cute, but I have the best time with you, if I had a choice to spend my life with only one person, it's you. We always been deeper than friends." He was now looking at him. "Zhi, you ain't hard to fall for, or desire sexually. Pleasing you, it just turns me on."
Zhi loved everything he was saying, he couldn't lie. He really wanted to walk over there and kiss on his pretty as lips. "You know you clearly turn me on."
Ace nodded. "I do know,"
"Coco, if she pulls through and I pray she does, Imma break off things with her. She deserves better."
"I can't let you throw that away for me."
"It ain't just you, there's things I need to figure out with myself, and I can't drag her along. I really should have cut things off with her the moment you touched me in the library." Zhi walked over and sat down by Ace. "What I'm tryna say is that, maybe I wanna see where this goes." Zhi placed his hand on Ace's thigh. Ace picked it up and interlocked their fingers. He pulled his mouth to his and they kissed. Ace took control of Zhi's chin and, slowed the kiss down, making it more passionate. "I like when you do that shit."
"What?"
"Take control, I see now it wasn't that I hated it. It's really a weakness for me." Zhi confessed, zoning in on Ace licking his lips.
"I love doing it, watching you come undone to my touch and voice." He kissed his neck. "You sexy when you moaning..." he kissed his neck some more. "...your eyes close, your back arches, toes curl, but my favorite detail..." Ace made circular motions around his nipple, through his shirt. "Is how my name rolls off them juicy ass lips."
"Fuck," Zhi held on to his neck and straddled his lap, kissing him wildly.
Ace laughed. "Calm down baby, imma handle that for you. Let's finish this conversation, it's important."
"I told you, you were a seducing ass nigga." They both laughed. "I see how you was able to talk these girls out they panties."
"Nah, it's not game with you. I really get off on pleasing you, being the one to make that deep as voice sound gentle and soft."
"You just chose yourself to be the dominant one."
"Seem like you want me to be that too." Ace sat back on the couch and pulled Zhi on his chest. He lifted his chin so he could look in his eyes. "You ever cut me off again, imma punish yo ass and I ain't talking about with my fist."
Zhi's body shivered. "Never again, and I hope you can really forgive me one day."
"I want a proper apology."
"Like what?" Zhi was confused.
"You'll see," Ace tightened his arms around him.

Later at the hospital
Coco was breathing on her own again, and the doctor said they couldn't be sure of her recovery, until she was fully awake. Zhi and her family filled her room with balloons and flowers. The doctor did warn the family that it was a possibility she'd never walk again and have minor brain damage. He wanted them to prepare themselves. Zhi couldn't imagine her coming back but not as herself. It was wrong of him to okay things with Ace, while she was fighting for her life. He had promised he'd be there every step of the way for her and that's what he was doing.
He just stopped fighting himself on loving Ace and every way he could love him. It would still take some getting used to, but he was willing. He wasn't ready for anyone but his mom to know, Ace was patient. Now all he did was think about him, it's crazy how just seeing him shifted all the doubts. Ace had a confident aura about him, like in his arms there was assurance. He was the way he's always been with Zhi, just softer.
For right now he just wanted Coco to pull through.
