Plants are delicious. They especially taste good when you have no idea what you're eating. Yummy yummy in my tummy.
But didn't only love to eat plants, he also loved to sit with the plants, talk to the plants, walk through the plants.
In other words, he liked to go on walks in the forest.
One day, he was walking through the forest alone, because he needed to clear his mind. It was like he had a thousand thoughts creeping up on him all at once. It was awful.
He was really hoping that the trees might be able to calm him down a little. Eventually he came to a fork in the road. He wasn't sure which way to go, so he did eenie meenie miney mo and chose to go the left way.
He was too busy thinking to notice the trail fading away as he walked into the thicket.
He wasn't too worried about getting lost, since he had brought his phone and he seemed to always have service everywhere he went. Plus Tony had a tracker on his phone and his watch. Peter was pretty confident nothing was going to happen.
He was walking along when he started to get the really paranoid feeling that someone was watching him, maybe following him. It wasn't even his spidey-sense going off, it was just a gut feeling. He figured that since he wasn't in any real danger, he may as well keep going.
Obviously he planned to turn around once his spidey-sense went off. If there was anything watching/following him it clearly didn't have an malicious intent, at least not yet.
As he got deeper in the woods, he got more paranoid and slowly got more anxious. He was getting ready to bolt at any moment.
But then he pictured telling the avengers about where he went and how he got scared and ran back and he hated the mental image. He thought it would make him seem childish.
What Peter failed to notice through all of his worrying, was that the clouds were getting darker and it soon began to rain, chasing away whatever was following him, for now.
Peter was snapped out of his thoughts when it began thundering. He stopped walking. The thunder scared him a little. Especially when he was out in the woods. He was no longer worried about getting murdered, instead he was worried about a forest fire. He was about to turn around when he realized he had gotten lost.
He had no clue what way was the way back. He began to shake, filled with fear and did his best to think logically.
"Hug a tree!" He shouted out loud, to no one. "I was taught that if I was ever lost, to stay in one place and hug a tree!"
"Wait that may have been only if I have something reflective to make it easier for them to find me..." He trailed off, unsure of what to do.
Since he was in a great deal of doubt, he decided that he was just going to hug a tree anyway. He was about to hug the tree in front of him, but he got a bad vibe from it, so he hugged a tree a little further to the left.
He had managed to calm himself down a little, but all the effort was for nothing once he heard another boom of thunder. Now he was really shaking. He wasn't sure if it was from the cold, or from the fear.
He tried closing his eyes, hoping that when he opened them, this would all be over. Sadly it didn't work that way.
There was a bright flash and a clap of thunder, forcing Peter to open his eyes.
In front of him was the tree he almost sat at, with a strike down the middle and on fire. He knew it wasn't safe for him to stay there, considering how fast the rain was slowing down and how fast the fire would soon spread.
He began to blindly run in one direction hoping it was the right way. Suddenly something grabbed him and he could feel the wind against his face.
Whatever this was, it had long, cold fingers. He squeezed his eyes shut, only daring to open them once the wind stopped.
He was back at the start of the trail. He could see the road.
He turned around. "Thank you!" He called out, his voice still shaking.
There was no response other than a small rustle in the trees. A gust of wind blew past him, blowing on single leaf across the path.
Once he got to the road, he saw some flowers in a pot with a leaf stuck to the side. The leaf was a note. The note had scratching writing, almost looking as if it was written in mud. The note said, "Take care of these for me please,"
Peter saw no hints that anyone was there, plus the note itself was still dry.
So he took them back, and when asked about where he went that day, he gave no further explanation than, I got lost in the woods but I found my way out.
