Chapter 14

The next day the pogues decided to search the cross of Santo Domingo and they went through a swamp. The Twinkie was stuck in some water so Kie and JJ decided to take Kie's Father's truck to take it out. While they were away Jane was worried about their situation. She knew that Rafe was looking for the cross too and he knew were to find it. If they met she didn't know what reaction they could have had. But she figured it out very early.
When the Twinkie was free they arrived near a tree and there were some cars, with the blond lady and his friend.
"I'm gonna go behind that three to look closely" said Jane. "No absolutely no" said John B "it's too dangerous. If they see you? You can die" "Oh come on JB don't be so dramatic. I'm coming with you" said JJ. He was worried as JB but he didn't want to show it. "No you stay there with them. I'm going alone" "No Jane come on seriously? What if-" "Kie don't worry. Seriously guys don't worry just relax. Nothing is gonna happen" and she disappeared between the plants. She wanted to look closely but she also wanted to see if there was another person. While she was walking she started to hear better the voices of the people, and when she was close enough she noticed someone near the black car. A tall guy, with blonde hair. He had a disappointed face while was taking two shovels. It was Rafe. While she was walking she hit a twig and made a terrible noise. Rafe noticed it and turned his head trying to figure out what or who made that sound. "I don't have all day Rafe, come on hurry up" said the blonde lady. Jane was trying to hold her breath so that Rafe couldn't hear her. So he decided to give up and continued to do what he was doing. After some time Rafe stopped to dig and went near the car to drink some water. Jane was trying to come back to her friends when suddenly some one took her arm. "I knew someone was here" whispered Rafe. "You fucking scared me" said Jane. "What the hell are you doing Pogue?" "Fuck off Cameron". She tried to escape but he tightened the grip and covered her mouth with his hand. "Do I need to kill you and all of your friends?" Jane was trying to free herself. "Say another word like that and you're dead". She was moving more and more. "Got it?" "Yes" murmured the girl "I can't understand" "Yes" said the girl louder, finally free from that hand. "Good. Then leave". Now she was in front of the guy, who was standing there. They looked for some seconds in the eyes.
Those familiar blu eyes.
But then Jane went away and returned to her friends. "What the hell happened? we didn't see you anymore and Rafe disappeared" said Sarah "Chill guys. He was drinking and I was coming back. I'm still alive don't worry." "Have you seen what they were trying to do?" asked Pope. "They were digging but I couldn't see what they found" "Ok. Then we'll wait till they are gone and then we will look for something" said John B. "For what exactly? If they find what they want there's nothing we can do" intervened Kie "Maybe they won't find anything because they are not as good as us" answered JB.
While they were discussing JJ was looking at Jane and noticed that she had some red signs on her arm. "What happened?" asked him. Jane looked at him with some confused eyes and then she realized that he was talking about her arm. "Oh. Nothing" "I don't think it's nothing" "You know with all these trees you can get hurt easily" lied Jane. She tried to be the more convincing as possible but JJ wasn't so stupid. "Fine" said JJ while was trying to understand better what could possibly have happened.
Later that day the Pogues found the cross but they had to ran, because someone was coming. Rafe and the other two person were there and they took the cross. While this was happening Pope was about to die for some bees and when he was ok again they went again in that place to take the cross, but it was gone. Pope also fought with Rafe, after he found him with the cross in his truck. But he couldn't take it.
They had to think about another plan.
P: "Rafe and the others have the cross"
JB: "Then what can we do?"
JJ: "We can find them, fight and steal the cross"
P: "I don't think this is a reasonable plan. I mean I tried to and look at me"
JJ: "I'm gonna fight for you don't worry"
J: "I don't think so"
JJ: "Do you wanna see how strong I am?"
J: "Oh shut up. You're not gonna fight. We just need to find them, wait that they go away and then take the cross"
P: "While I was fighting I didn't see anyone with Rafe so he's all alone but we don't know where to find him"
S: "I think there's a place"
K: "Where?"
S: "Rafe is gonna come back at home. We need to go there"
JB: "And what is the plan? knock at the door and ask if someone has seen the cross?"
S: "No. I'm gonna get in and build up a plan with Wheeze. Then I'm gonna steal the truck with the cross"
JB: "Absolutely no. It's too risky"
S: "Oh come on John B. It's the only plan that we have"
K: "How do you know that Rafe is gonna be there with the cross?"
S: "Because it's my brother. I know him"
Jane was thinking about the plan. It was a really good one, but too risky for Sarah to go alone. "I'm coming with you" "What? no I need to go alone inside the house" said Sarah. "I can't let you go all alone there. If something happens to you?" Jane was really worried. She knew what Rafe was capable to do and she didn't want to let her go alone. "Don't worry Jane. He's my brother. I'm safe"
So that night all the Pogues decided to go at Tanny Hill, or almost all. Kie was at home with her parents and she couldn't leave.
So that night the pogues tried to steal the cross.
