Chapter 16

Jane ran away from that room and immediately went out and saw the truck with the cross in it. She stopped for a moment and thought about steal it, but then she remembered that she needed the keys and she remembered also that Sarah was still there. She started to think about the original plan and while was trying to go up again she heard some noises from the basement. She heard Sarah's voice. She wanted to run to her, but Rose was coming so she had to ran away.
When she was out she couldn't breathe and the three boys saw her. "Jane what happened?" said JJ. He was really worried about her. "Where's Sarah?" asked JB. He was worried of course about his two girls but when he saw only Jane he started to think about the worst things. After that Rafe went away with the truck, Rose and Wheeze took away Sarah from that house and the Pogues started to follow them. Meanwhile Jane decided to go to take Kie from her house and they both ran away from Kie's parents. Pope fought against Rafe but he couldn't steal the cross.
At the end of the day the Camerons arrived at the mole and then the Pogues arrived too. The cross was there and it was been putting on the boat. All the family went on it and then the Pogues followed them and hid in a container. They tried to find a plan and while they were talking Jane was really silent in a small spot, a little away from the others. She was still thinking about everything that happened. She hated so much Rafe and herself too. Why she said all those things? Why she cared so much about Rafe? Why he was so different with her? She couldn't answer at any of those questions, but someone noticed her silent. Pope.
"Hey" said the young pogue. "Hey" answered the girl. "Is everything ok?" "Yeah sure. Why?" she knew that Pope noticed her silent. Pope was like a little brother to her. The most genuine and kindest Person that she had ever met. He was there when she needed him, like all the Pogues. They were all brothers at the end. "You're really silent. And I mean really" said the young guy and they both laughed. "Yeah it's too hot here. I don't have the energy to talk". Bullshit. She was thinking about the guy with the blue eyes. "I don't believe you" affirmed Pope. "If you don't wanna talk with me fine but please talk with someone. If you have any issue or-" "Thanks Pope" interrupted Jane "But seriously I'm fine. I'm just surprised by this situation and I just need some peace. Nothing more. Nothing less". She stopped the guy because she already knew what the boy was gonna say and she didn't wanna hear anyone. She just wanted to be alone with her thoughts. It was so hot that place and her head hurted so much that she couldn't even keep her eyes open. "Oh ok. Sorry" said him while was getting away from Jane. He thought that he was pissing her off, but actually she was really happy to have him around, she just wasn't in the right mood to talk. "Pope you are not annoying me don't worry. I'm just not feeling great. You know I love you. I really appreciate it" said Jane with a little smile on her face. She was feeling a little guilty and she didn't want to be mean with her friends, at least not with her family. "Got it. Don't worry. Love you too" Now Pope was more relived with those words. He knew that Jane was a really impulsive person but he also knew her perfectly to understand that she really cared about him but that wasn't just the right moment.
"What did she say?" asked Kie. She saw everything and she was actually really worried about her friend. Her best friend. "She just doesn't feel good. She wants to be alone" said Pope while looking at Jane with worried eyes. "I'm gonna talk to her later. You know how she is. Give her some time and space and then she is gonna tell us everything". Kie knew her and understood perfectly that something was going on between Jane and Rafe. All the Pogues understood it perfectly.
The only person that couldn't understand it yet was Jane.
