Chapter 1

Today was the day. The day, Reece's mom, Ariel Maria drop her off, at the placement agency. Reece was waiting, on the stairs, for Kate, her placement manger. "Kay, Reece, Kate will be here any minute. She knows your name and age, already. So, tell her nothing more! Okay?" Her mom handed Reece her whiteboard and markers. Then opened the car door. "Don't forget about me!" Reece pleaded. Her mother smirked, "How can I? I still see your eyes in my mirror!" With that she closed the door and the taxi driver sped her away. Sped away her from her fourteen year old daughter. She was leaving her. Reece wasn't one to be scared. But she was. Terrified, actual. She was smuggled into America by her mother. To be kept away from her abusive stepfather. And given to a family of complete strangers.

The Hopper were finishing dinner, when Sam Hopper's phone rang. His husband, Dan, ushered him to answer it. "Hello?" he said, walking out of the room.

"Hello! Is this Mr. Hopper?"

"One of them! Whom am I speaking to?"

"Kate. From the placement agency."

"O'yes. How may I help you?"

"I know this is short notice, but would you like a placement?"

"Hold on a second! Let me get Sammy!" Dan said before hollering for his significant other. "What?" he asks. "Kate wants to know if we want another child!"

Dan could see his husband getting, easily, excited. "What's their name? Age? When does she want to place?" Sam fired off. His husband calmed him, "I don't know! Here ask your questions!" He pushed his phone towards his husband.

"Hello, Kate? It's Samuel. What do you know about them?"

"Her's name's Reece Luigi Summers. She's fourteen, four feet six inches, and mute."

"Do you mean mute as in doesn't speak? Or mute as in can't speak?"

"I'm not sure, but she has a whiteboard and two markers. So, communicating isn't a problem."

Sam and Daniel had talked a bit little, about getting another child. Nothing finale. They had the room and the money. "A month! Give her month! If it works out, we adopt her." Sammy pleaded. Dan couldn't say no the his childish lover. "Kay, Kate. When do you want to place her?" The other side of the line was quite for a bit. "Two hours!" Kate said, meekly. Sam told her it wasn't a problem while Dan told the children. Right "Am I getting another sister?" asked Justin. He's nine, making him the youngest of the trio. "If this works out, maybe." He responded. "I just hope she doesn't steal my clothes." Brianna grumbled. She was a junior and the only girl. Hence, she got special treatment. Include, the master bedroom and a huge wardrobe. "Lord, we forgot to ask if she has clothes. And we donated the last of the reminding hand-me-downs last week." Sam gasped, tucking his husband's phone back in his pocket. Daniel kissed his forehead, "It's fine. If anything Jalex or Bri can lead her a shirt."

Kate rang the doorbell, with Reece hiding behind her. Luckily, Kate was tall enough that Reece could hide behind her. Though, that didn't say much. A boy, around Reece's age, opened the door. "Daddy! Papa! They're here." He called. He turned to Kate, "So, where is she?" Kate stepped aside. And Reece followed her. The older women chuckled. Holding the younger's shoulders as she took another step. Because that's when the family came. Four guys and one girl, which had a scowl on her pretty features. They introduced themselves. There was Samuel {Papa}, Daniel {Daddy}, Brianna {the only girl}, Jalex {the boy that opened the door}, and Justin {The youngest}. "She's...small." Bri stated. "Brianna Hopper!" Sam shrieked. "What? It's true. Even Justin's taller than her!" She retorted. "Excuse her and please come in." He said, after moment. Kate gently pushed Reece, to get her walking. "I'd love to but I better get going." She said, once Reece was inside. Reece bit her lip, trying to keep from panicking. "But I'll check in soon." Kate walked away. Jalex closed the door. "Well, Reece, Jalex will show you the guest bedroom. So you can get settled and everyone else will you, tomorrow." Dan smiled.

Jalex lead her to the guest bedroom ( http://www.pinterest.com/pin/33214115973647323/ ) "This is your room!" He said, making a giant gesture of opening the door. Reece exmanied the room, in awe. "You can put your clothes away in there." He pointed to the adorable drawers. "And, if you need anything, I'm next door and the bathroom's across the hall. " Jalex grinned. "You good?" He asked, holding his thumbs up in a questioning way. Reece nodded, a bit. "Okay then. Night!" Jalex was about to walk, when he realized something. "Wait, do you need to borrow pjs? Its alright if you do." He bit his lips, hoping he didn't offend her. Reece's face didn't change as she shook her head. "Cool, night!" He left, closing the door.

~in the morning~

Jalex gently knocked on the door. When she didn't respond, he peek into Reece's room. Then, seeing she was still asleep, let himself in. After setting her toiletries' basket down, he shook her gently. She sat straight up. Fear written across her face. Before realizing where she was. After a few deep breathes, she calmed down. Before, giving Jalex a shy wave. "I brought you some stuff. Breakfast is in twenty minutes. When you're ready, knock on my door and we'll go up together. Okay?" Reece nodded, before slowly standing up to make the bed. Jalex told her, she didn't have to make her bed. But, after being ignored, helped her with the pillows. "Hate to rush your first shower, here, but, if you aren't out in ten minutes, the water will probably go cold. Maybe even sooner." Reece nodded. Then, walked towards the bathroom. Not forgetting to grab her towel, toothbrush, and sponge on the way out. Not to mention, her hairbrush, from her backpack.

Reece and Jalex walked into the kitchen while Sam was distributing plates. Reece waved, before taking the sat Dan offered her. "Nice curls!" Bri muttered. The family ate and made conversation while Reece sat back and watched. Sam checked his watch, "Well, kids, we better get going." Everyone, except Danny and Reece, grabbed their backpack or briefcase and left. Meanwhile Reece helped Danny wash to dishes. Once finished, Reece looked at Dan, expectantly. "Now, we go grocery shopping!" He smiled. "Umm...you kinda have to sit in Justin's booster." He frowned. WHAT!!!! She wrote. "You know, because you're so...small." He tried to put it as kindly as he could. She huffed. Fine!

~two weeks~

It's been two weeks since Reece's mom leave her also, its been to weeks since she met the Hopper's. She was really starting to love, and care of, everyone. Ever since, Bri realizing Reece wasn't threading her special treatment, she started smiling at the younger girl. Jalex and Reece were becoming best friends and hang out everyday. Also, Reece's human nest was coming along fine. Everything was going fine until that unfaithful day came. When Sam Hopper received a text from Kate saying *Great news! I have a couple that wants to adopt. Unless, you want her. Then you better act fast. They're coming in two days.

Sam's jaw dropped. Dan came close to tears. Sam walked over to this partner "It'll be okay!" He murmured. "We can't lose her, Sammy!" Dan pleaded, putting his head in the crane of Sam's neck.
