A while later, Ms. Kelley and Kaleb drove home. It was close to 10pm now, having heard about all the adventures her kids had gone through during the day.
As she drove up and drove behind the building to park with the busses, she glanced over at Kaleb to check if he was sleeping again.
Kaleb was barely able to keep his eyes open, yawning and yet trying to keep himself on alert.
Ms. Kelley chuckled, "Hey, wake up, we're home." She said softly, not wanting to startle him as she parked.
Kaleb jumped, quickly jerking himself awake, "Hm?- oh, uh, yeah." He nodded absently, taking off his seat belt, "I'll start carrying the soup in."
Ms. Kelley nodded, "Thank you. I'll go get the kids to help you."
Kaleb nodded, and got out of the car to start gathering the soups as Ms. Kelley called Luke.
As it rang, she walked to the door to unlock it for Kaleb, knowing that just calling her son would make him come down quicker. And finally, he answered.
"Hey mom! What's up?"
"Hi, baby! We have the food. Can y'all come down and help Kaleb carry it in? I have medicines that I need to carry for everyone."
"Sure thing, I'll send them! Do you want me to come help, or should I help fend off the kids?"
"Could you help fend off the kids? And have Hypno come out this time, please."
"Ok, will do! Sending them now!"
"Thanks, sweetie! See you in a sec!"
And with that, she hung up.
As she turned to check, Kaleb asked her to hold the door and she quickly swung it open, seeing Luke and some others holding back an excited group of kids from rushing to the door.
As Kaleb rushed carefully inside with the massive jugs of soup, he gave swift orders to go in the back of the car and get the sandwiches, croutons, fruits and juices.
The teens who were assigned to help collect the food rushed out excitedly, quickly working together to get all the food inside as fast as possible so they could eat. It had been a few days.
After a good 10 minutes of teens rushing back and forth through the door to carry in food, they finally finished, and Ms. Kelley shut and locked the door once the last teen carried in the last plate.
Ms. Kelley helped them all get to the table as the teens who were tasked with handling the excited kids sat them all down and had them stay still to get their food as it was passed out.
They needed to make the food last for another two weeks, so they all got smaller portions, and they all had to split sandwiches, but the kids were overjoyed to have food nonetheless. With all the people in the house, sometimes it was hard to get the right amount of money to be able to feed everyone.
The kids all waited excitedly as the food was passed out, trying their best to remain patient. They knew they wouldn't be able to eat all of the food, but they were just happy to be fed.
"Alright, is this everybody?" Ms. Kelley called out as the teens finished sitting all the kids down, and made sure they all stayed in their seats.
Karma looked around quickly. He sensed something was off, but wasn't sure what. He assumed it was just the fact that they finally had food.
"Yup, we're good, mom!" He called back, as he and the teens began to get themselves seated as well.
Ms. Kelley nodded and had them all sit as she and Kaleb passed the food. The children always got served first, then the teens, and then the adults.
