(TW: Stalking, attempted kidnapping)

Delta had his map pulled up on his phone in one hand, holding the child in their other arm as they followed the direction to the closest grocery store. It was about an hour and a half walk.

As they walked, the child had began to calm down and was relaxed once more in their arms.

Walking past the multitudes of stores on the block, they couldn't help but notice the different toys in some of the windows. He debated stopping to look, but knew that the child would most likely want him to buy something, and he had no money.

Looking through the windows of the stores, Delta made sure to keep notice of anyone behind them. They were still mildly paranoid about being in a new place, especially with a child that wasn't his.

Suddenly, the child nearly lept out of their arms to reach at the window, "Toy! Toy!" The child yelled excitedly as he banged his little hands on the window, frantically pointing at a toy train.

Delta jumped, scrambling to keep the child in his arms. He heard some people laughing quietly, and ignored it as he pulled the child back into his arms, "Whoa- okay, okay! Calm down, kid!"

The child giggled mischievously, bouncing in his arms, "Toy! Go, pease!" He whined, flopping around dramatically.

Delta sighed and readjusted the child in their arms to hold him closer, "Alright! We'll go in!" He agreed to appease the child.

The child cheered and relaxed once again, calming down as Delta carried him into the store.

The bell rang quietly as he heard the chatter in the small store. It was a fairly old thrift store, filled with little trinkets, clothes, toys, and other things he didn't really care much about.

The child pat his chest to ask to be let down. Delta quickly let him, but kept him close and held his hand so he wouldn't run off.

The child dragged Delta straight to the toy trains, trying to run but not succeeding entirely.

Delta chuckled as they followed him right to the toys, keeping watch to make sure they were alright and no one was looking too much.

The child squeaked with excitement as he managed to slip out of Delta's hands, sprinting straight for the toys.

Delta immediately chased after him, "Kiddo wait!-"

The child laughed evilly as he ran, but lucky for Delta, the toys he wanted weren't far. The boy quickly picked up a few trains to play on the track, immediately beginning to play.

Delta sighed in relief, slowing down and following the kid to the train set. He bent down, "You wanna play for a bit, buddy?" He asked gently, patting him on the head.

The toddler happily turned to him, handing him a train so he could play, too.

Delta chuckled and took the train, waiting for instructions for play. They knew kids liked to give instructions when it came to play sometimes, but they had also sort of forgotten how to play. It had been a long time since he had last played with a child.

The boy happily squeaked as he waddled around the track to make the trains move across the large playmat of tracks, with Delta moving slightly to follow since all he had to do was stretch and shift positions to follow around.

After around an hour, as they continued to play, a worker stopped by to check on them. They seemed slightly concerned, but didn't give it away.

"Hello! How are you two doing today?" The worker asked, quickly getting Delta's attention as they paused playtime to respond.
