"Kabir, I asked you to finish this by evening. Can you please check if the issue has been resolved?" I asked, rolling the sleeves of my crisp white shirt up to elbow.
"Relax, bhaiya. I've already talked to them. Everything has been sorted out." He replied nonchalantly, making himself comfortable on the chair across the desk as he munched on his favorite snack.
I lifted my gaze from the laptop to look at him and he shifted, sitting more obediently this time and placed the packet of banana chips aside on the table.
"The watch was actually in his wife's purse the whole time, while he was too busy blaming our staff of stealing it. But he realised his mistake and later apologised to the staff for the same."
How can someone act in such a reckless manner. I just can't tolerate such people.
The fool was making a huge fuss in front of everyone, accusing our room service staff of stealing his Armani watch. It was totally not fair to them, and it could have damaged our hotel's reputation also.
"WHAT?" I could feel the anger building up as I forcefully shut the laptop, the sound echoing through the room. "Then how could that asshole point fingers at my staff without even bothering to check his wife's bag first.
"Relax, bhai," Kabir replied. "We don't want your BP to shoot, do we?"
Leaning back in my chair, I dragged a hand through my dark strand, exhaling slowly as I fought to steady the anger simmering inside me.
His phone buzzed and he stepped away to answer it. I pressed my fingertips to my temples, kneading at the tension building.
I've always had a short fuse and it doesn't take much to set me off. But at least I'm trying to improve. Really, I am.
"Are you okay, Bhai?" I looked up to see him settling back into seat, his gaze fixed on me.
"Hmm," I muttered.
"Bhaiya, Papa told me to bring you home early today. So shall we?" He asked, his eyes glinting with mischief.
I narrowed my eyes, standing from my chair. "Why? And what's with that look on your face?"
I grabbed my phone from the table, sliding it into to the pocket of my slacks. Then, I began packing my laptop and charger into the bag, all the while keeping an eye on him.
"Nothing," He said with a shrug, his grin deepening as he reached for the banana chips packet on the table, tossing a chip into his mouth, feigning innocence.
Food is his first love.
"I need to attend Veer's PTM. You can head home, it'll take me some time."
"As you say, sir." He gave me a mock salute before turning on his heel and leaving.
But the look on his face before he left, it's still nagging at me. Kabir definitely knows the reason. Why had Chote Papa suddenly called us home early today?
I sighed, today had been exhausting, but I couldn't help feeling grateful to have Kabir by my side. He's been a really great partner, quick to learn and efficient at managing responsibilities. And now, he's already heading another branch of our Hotel.
Kabir has always feet like my own brother. In fact, he's the sunshine of our home, the kind of person who fills the environment with warmth and vibrant energy. You can't stay dawn for long when he's around.
