After six months

Adhira sat cross legged on the sofa in the living room, her fingers working through Kabir's hair.

He sat on the carpet below her, back leaning against the edge of the sofa as they watched a movie playing on the television.

"So," She spoke softly, leaning forward to read his expressions. "Do you like her?"

Kabir's focus shifted but he didn't answer right away. His eyes stayed fixed on the screen, though it was clear he wasn't really watching.

"Yeah," He said eventually, the memories
of the previous evening still playing in his mind.

His Roka.

"I mean, she's genuine. Easy to talk to. But I'm still scared thinking maybe I hurried into this just because everyone's excited." His voice trailed off.

Her brows furrowed, hands pausing for a moment before resuming slower now. "Are you not sure about her?"

Kabir shook his head slowly. "It's not like that. I like her. It's just feels so soon. I think I should have taken some more time."

"It's just jitters." She smiled, understanding his worry. "Don't worry. These things settle with time. Try to spend more time with her."

"Bhabhi," He tipped his head back, half-closing his eyes. "What did you and Bhaiya used to talk? I mean before marriage."

She let out a soft, nostalgic laugh, recalling the memory. "You won't believe it but we barely spoke before our wedding."

"Seriously?" He turned slightly to face her, brows raised. "Then how were you guys so sure about each other?"

"I just had a feeling after meeting him," She smiled. "I was impressed with his values, the way he treated people and how he handled his responsibilities."

"And the most important thing," She added. "He never rushed. Not once."

"We didn't try too hard to impress. We gave each other space and let things unfold. Just went with the flow." Kabir hummed, absorbing her words.

"There were uncomfortable conversations, disagreements, silent arguments but we tried. We compromised and resolved without involving anyone else."

"But bhabhi," He mumbled, playing with the thread on his sleeve. "Maybe you two were just lucky. What if she and I don't work out?"

"It wasn't luck," She said firmly. "It was efforts. You give what you expect. And ask what she expects from you."

He was quiet for a moment before sighing. "Thanks, Bhabhi. You make it sound easy."

"It isn't easy," She leaned back onto the sofa as he shifted up beside her. "But it gets easier when you're real, honest and patient."

"I will," He smiled at her. Before he could say more, his phone buzzed.

Adhira caught the name on the screen and raised an eyebrow with a teasing smile. "Tumne pukara aur hum chale aaye."

[You called and here I am]

"Kya yaar, Bhabhi." Kabir's cheeks flushed as he stood up to attend the phone.

[Oh come on]

She watched him run upstairs, a soft smile still lingering on her face.
