I wrapped my arms around her from behind, pulling her close as she focused on rolling out the parathas for breakfast.

The warmth of her body against mine was
a comfort I didn't want to let go.

"Good morning," She chirped, her voice bright. She leaned back a little, resting against me even as she kept working.

'Hmm, " I murmured in response, nuzzling into the curve of her neck, letting my lips brush against her skin.

She glanced over her shoulder. "Why so grumpy?"

"You left me all alone in the bedroom." I grumbled, pressing soft kisses along her neckline.

She shivered slightly under my touch, laughing softly while shaking her head.

"Someone had to make breakfast as you know Choti Maa has gone to temple with Veer."

I tightened my arms around her, pressing my forehead against her shoulder. "But I wanted you with me."

Her hand paused on the rolling pin as the turned around, her expressions softening as she looked up at me. "Golu, are you okay?"

I forced a smile. "Yeah!" I replied, trying
to sound casual but her gaze lingered.

She would always see right through me, and I knew she sensed that something was off.

Her hand came up, her fingers brushing against my cheek, silently urging me to open up.

I hesitated, feeling the familiar tightness in my chest, but couldn't bring myself to say more. I cleared my throat, stepping back to put some distance between us.

"I thought I'd make pancakes. Veer loves them." I turned toward the counter, reaching for the ingredients to start.

"Yeah!" She didn't push further and continued with her work while I focused
on mine.

We didn't have a cake-cutting last night. We all simply wished Veer and gave him his gifts. He asked for a small cake-cutting ceremony in the evening and a quiet family dinner—nothing fancy, just us together.

"You aren't going office today, right?" She asked glancing over her shoulder as she washed her hands in the sink.

"No," I replied, whisking the batter finely.

She nodded, drying her hands, and then came over to stand beside me. "Sunein..."

"Sunayein?" I looked up, raising my eyebrows.

She leaned lightly against the counter, folding her arms as she seemed to gather her thoughts. "What if we spent the day doing all of Veer's favorite things?"

"You know, just the things he likes. I think he'd really enjoy it." She suggested.

I paused, letting her words sink in. And I could see in her expression how much it meant to her to make today feel special for Veer.

"Yeah," I found myself smiling, nodding. I said, meeting her eyes. "He'd love that."

She smiled back, a small, satisfied look crossing her face. "Okay," She clapped her hands excitedly.

I dipped my finger into the batter, tasting
to check check if it needed more sugar. As
I glanced up, I noticed her eyes still on me.

"You want to taste?" I asked, holding out my another finger for her.

She nodded, stepping closer and before I knew she was already on her toes, her palm fisting the collar of my shirt as she pulled me down to meet her lips.
