As my fingers reached for her neck, aiming to angle her face closer to mine, she placed a hand on my chest pushing me, asking me to stop. I could feel her pulling back, as her body started to slid away from me.

Reluctantly, I broke the kiss at her protest. We breathed heavily trying to catch up on air before she edged further away, to the corner of the bed.

"What?" I frowned, confused by the sudden shift in her.

She didn't meet my gaze right away. Her gaze dropped to the space between us as
her fingers clutched the comforter before she looked up at me.

"I'm still mad at you," she said, each word precise. "I'm not letting this go easily this time."

There was no smirk to tell she was teasing. Her tone was sharp, the seriousness on her face cutting through my hope. "Adhira I-

"I'm not talking to you, and don't disturb me. Let me sleep." She cut me off sharply.

The sudden coldness in her tone hit me harder than I expected. I felt heavy in my chest as I watched her turn her back to me.

"Cuddle toh kar sakte hain?" I tried, almost pleasing as I shifted closer, trying to break the distance.

"You should be thankful I'm even letting you sleep on the bed." She muttered, her back still to me.

I knew I had messed up, more than just an argument. The heaviness in her mood, the distance she was putting up, reflected the hurt I had caused her.

And yet beneath the guilt gnawing at me,
I felt a warmth spreading across my chest. Despite her anger, despite the pain I had put her through, she chose to be near me, she chose to comfort me.

She could have turned away, shut me out completely. But instead she thought of me, setting aside her own hurt.

This made me realise how fucking lucky I was to have her, somebody who could care about me when I didn't deserve it.

Propping myself up on my elbow, I paused for a moment, watching the gentle rise and fall of her chest as she slept.

I leaned in slowly, carefully not to disturb her and dropped a feather-light kiss on her forehead. I stayed, hovering closer to her for a while, gazing at her peaceful face.

In the morning, I stirred awake, only to find her snuggled into me, her body instinctively seeking warmth. She was clutching onto my bicep, her head resting on my shoulder.

I couldn't help but chuckle quietly, thank you, AC. A smile crept onto my face as I noticed a tiny trail of drool on the corners of her lips.

I brushed my thumb across her lips, wiping it away. She didn't stir and nestled deeper into the warmth of my body as the room was chilled.

I reached over the bed side table for the AC remote and switched it off, before pulling the comforter up around her.

Her body curled up, seeming so small and delicate. I watched for a few more minutes, my heart swelling with contentment.

Such a baby she is.

My baby.

I stilled, feeling her stir and instinctively closed my eyes. She lifted her head from
my shoulder, her hair brushing against my skin before she rested it on the pillow.
