Y/n's POV
It's relaxing being able to walk with Kazutora like this.
At least it was, but then his phone started going off. At first, he ignored it but then it kept happening?????? I wouldn't have minded if he needed to go, but he keeps declining calls and ignoring texts, so now I feel bad.
"Tora, if you need to go..."
"No! It's fine! It's just the guys is all..." He spoke without looking at me and I knew he was hiding something. My shoulders fell with the weight of the guilt from holding him up.
I took a deep breath and looked up at him with soft smile. "Don't ignore your family for me, okay?" I turned and walked off without saying anything more.
It's late and I need to go home. I should've known better than to walk when it's this late. I'm not even sure how far I walked.
Without realizing it, I walked right into a Haitani.
Rindou Haitani.
My eyes widened as I felt panic begin to course through my veins. "Hey...I was just..." His eyes stared into me and I began to fidget before stomping my foot in frustration. "There's no way I walked that far!" I did my best to look everywhere except at him.
Why is he staring at me?!?!?! Did he turn into a mime or something??????
"Come on, Idiot." He tilted his head in the direction he was heading. I nodded as I quietly followed him. I trudged behind him like I was going to the gallows.
What if he is taking me to see Ran!?!??! I'M NOT READY!
"I saw what happened." He stopped and watched me with soul searching eyes. "With you and my brother."
Rindou's POV
He felt mean but he enjoyed seeing her so flustered. Just not with his brother. He could tell by watching her that she wasn't the kind of woman who would see the interest growing in her. He just needed to know why.
"He said he likes you." He kept his voice cool and calm as he continued. "Why'd you freak out?"
He watched her ball her fists and felt himself smile. "Because he is a flirt! He flirts with all women equally." He listened to her but he didn't miss how her eyes saddened a bit as she kept talking. "Besides...there's no way he would like me. No man would. It has to be the truth if I've been alone all these years, right?"
She can't really believe that...
She looked up at him and tried to smile, but as she did, a tear fell down her cheek.
What could've happened to her to make her believe that?
He felt himself reach out and cup her cheek without thinking, using a thumb to wipe away the tears. He let out a tired sigh, before reaching and taking her hand in his as he pulled her back to her place. He heard her quiet sniffles and couldn't help but feel a familiar sensation of longing. He decided against saying much until he brought her to her front door. He smiled at her when she looked at him with confusion, seeing he hadn't let go of her hand.
He felt his heartbeat erratically when she smiled back at him too. He hesitantly let go of her hand and nudged his head to her home. "Don't do night walks anymore. I can't have my idiot getting lost all the time." He turned to leave, smiling even more to himself as he heard her say,
"Wait...YOURS?"
